    Faculty Development Program on “Leadership, Team Building and 360 Degree Feedback”

    One Day Faculty Development Program on “Leadership, Team building and 360 Degree Feedback” was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology (PHCET), Rasayani on 20th March, 2021 from 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Dr. Neil Sequeira, Vice President – Human Resources and Administration of Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai was the resource person invited for the Program. In a career span of 27 years, he has worked in different capacities in organizations like Siemens, Duncan’s Group, Bombay Stock Exchange, Hinduja Hospital. His area of interests includes Human Behavior and Operations. He is a visiting faculty for many management institutes and is a professional counselor.

    Dr. Mansi Subhedar, an IQAC Coordinator hosted the event and introduced the speaker. After Principal’s address, Dr. Neil Sequeira started his talk. He explained the topic with number of examples and by telling his own experiences which made it easy to understand the concept. Faculty also interacted with him without any hesitation and the session remained active and interesting till the end. Dr. Ashok Kanthe, Head of the Department of Computer Engineering gave vote of thanks to the guest.

  • Database and Cloud Computing Quiz 2021

    Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology, Rasayani organized a “Database and Cloud Computing Quiz”, 2021. The event was conducted digitally on Google Platform during the Lockdown period. This event was conducted on 19th March, 2021 from 04:00 pm to 05:00 PM. Over 90+ students registered and participated in the event. The contest contained problem statements of medium difficulty with each question having 40 points where participants had to solve the problem in any preferable language with lesser time & space complexity. There were 40 questions related to Database and cloud computing where each question carries one mark. Participants enjoyed and learned a lot during the event. Students and Teachers from various institutions over country participated in the event.

    Insπre, a Mathematics Club from the Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities, PHCET had organized a National Level Webinar Based Quiz Competition in association with SEAM e-Learning on the occasion of International Day of Mathematics. The event was co-ordinated by Dr. Avinash J. Kamble and organized by the students of Insπre Mathematics club.The main idea behind the event was “Learn and Win”. The event was graced by Dr. Mathew T. Joseph, Principal of PHCET and Dr. Manvendra Vashishta, HOD of Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities, PHCET.

    The winners were awarded with cash prize of Rs. 3,000/-, Rs. 2,000/- and Rs. 1,000/- respectively for 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions.

    Computer Engineering Department has an integral CSI student chapter known as CSI PHCET, which aims to enhance and develop students core skills mostly by organizing different workshops, competitions and events.

    CSI PHCET organized a workshop on Python which was held on 6th and 7th March, 2021. The workshop was conducted by Prof. Suhas Lawand.

    On day 1 i.e., 6th March, 2021 the points that were covered are –

    Basics of Python

    • How to initialize variables and their data types along with input/output functions
    • Why commenting is necessary and where to use comments

    Control Structures-

    • Syntax and declaration of loops like if-else, while etc.
    • Use of operators like comparison, Boolean etc.

    Data structures in Python-

    • The description of how to use strings and inbuilt string manipulation function
    • The description on how to use lists, inbuilt list manipulation function and list comprehension
    • Detailed explanation and examples on Tuples, Dictionary and sets

    Functions-

    • Scope of variables
    • Function parameters, calling and return

    Modules in Python-

    • Different modules like collections, random, time etc. were also covered

    **above were implemented by solving various problems
    ** quiz test was also conducted at the end of the session

    On day 2 i.e., 7th March, 2021 the topics covered are –

    Object-Oriented Concepts-

    • A detailed description on Classes, Objects and members
    • Use of constructors and their functions along with abstract classes
    • Topics like Inheritance, Polymorphism, Method overloading and overriding were also covered.

    Exception handling in Python-

    • How to declare exceptions in Python and how they are declared differently in Python than in other languages.
    • Types of exception like User-defined exception and inbuilt exception

    **above were implemented by solving various problems
    ** quiz test was also conducted at the end of the session

    Certificates were provided at the end of 2nd day under the criteria that –

    Students attend both sessions i.e., day 1 (6th March) and day 2 (7th March)

    Over the past few years, the idea of green buildings has gained popularity, but still many myths still exist regarding “Green building”. The objective of the International symposium was to bust some myths on green building and avoid the misleading statement.

    Welcome address was proposed by Dr. T. J. Mathew, Principal, Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology, Rasayani and he emphasized the urgency of the concept to achieve the goal of sustainability. Critical issues for achieving green building from both engineering and architectural point of view and case studies of green building in Indonesia were explained by Ar. Denny Setiawan in the symbiosis.

    The session concluded with an interactive session between the resource persons and the participants in which the queries of the participants were addressed satisfactorily.

  • Workshop on “Antenna Design Thinking”

    Workshop on “Antenna Design Thinking”

    Department of Electronics and Telecommunication has set up MoU with ZinZinout Teletech on 7th December, 2020. The scope covers following points:

    1. The industrial training and exposure provided to students and faculty through this association will build confidence and prepare the students to have a smooth transition from academic to working career. PHCET will provide its Labs / Workshops / Industrial Sites for the hands-on training of the learners enrolled with ZinZout Teletech, India.
    2. It will provide Project Based Learning to the students on the emerging technologies in order to bridge the skill gap and make them industry ready through Internship and Value Addition Program.
    3. ZinZout Teletech will also assist PHCET with Profile Development of Studnets to get appropriate job Leads and embark upon Professional Carrier Goals.
    4. It will also extend the necessary support to deliver guest lectures to the students of the First Party on the technology trends and in-house requirements.

    Under this MoU, a webinar was organised one day webinar on “Antenna Design Thinking using CST Microwave Studio” on 28th February, 2021 under IETE student’s forum [ISF] for the students of PHCET and other engineering colleges. 350 students& faculty across India participated in the workshop.

    Mr. Avichal Sharma, CEO ZinZout Teletech conducted this webinar. Fundamentals of Antenna Design Thinking Antenna Design Lifecycle,UWB, MIMO, Metamaterial & Reconfigurable Technology,Career Opportunities in Antenna & RF Domain were the overall contents of this webinar.
