    Linux is a family of open-source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released in September 1991. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution. Linux is a Unix-like, open-source, and community-developed operating system (OS) for computers, servers, mainframes, mobile devices, and embedded devices. It is supported on almost every major computer platform, including x86, ARM, and SPARC, making it one of the most widely supported operating systems.

    The overview of the quiz to give knowledge of Linux and its application and benefits. So therefore we arranged a quiz competition for increasing their technical skills through a google form. This will help them to clear the concepts of the Operating systems and prepare for their interview. So it’s really important for students to gain interest in Cyber Security and that was the foremost purpose of the event.

    Extramural Lecture on “AI, IoT Applications and Research Areas and the Industry Outlook”

    An Extramural Lecture on “AI, IoT Applications and Research Areas and the Industry Outlook” was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology (PHCET), Rasayani on 3rd April, 2021 at 11.00 a.m. for the faculty of EXTC, IT and Computer Engineering. Dr. Prasad Ramanathan, Sr. Director at Capgemini Technology Services India Ltd. was the resource person invited for the lecture. He leads the “Machine Learning Center of Excellence” within “Cloud & Infrastructure Services”. He is responsible for applying emerging areas of technologies, to develop automation solutions. Before joining Capgemini, he worked for a few other multinational companies including Datamatics, GE Energy, Fisher-Rosemount and Honeywell. He has over 28 years of industrial experience. He makes time to teach at Engineering and Management colleges in and around Mumbai.

    Ms. Neetu Pillai, faculty of Computer Engineering hosted the event. After Principal’s addressed, Dr. Prasad Ramanathan started a talk. He covered the entire scope of the topic within 2 hours. He started his lecture with the evolution of AI and IoT and later explained their importance in present and future. He motivated faculty members to contribute their research in these emerging areas. He also spoke about his work profile and area of research in the program. All present faculty were inspired by his guidance.

    The program ended with a vote of thanks to the Invited guest.

    Dance Competition

Dance is a powerful impulse, but the art of dance is that impulse channeled by skillful performers into something that becomes intensely expressive and that may delight spectators who feel no wish to dance themselves. These two concepts of the art of dance—dance as a powerful impulse and dance as a skillfully choreographed art practiced largely by a professional few—are the two most important connecting ideas running through any consideration of the subject. In dance, the connection between the two concepts is stronger than in some other arts, and neither can exist without the other.

    Speech Competition

    Speaking skills are vitally important methods of communication. Speaking clearly and confidently can gain the attention of an audience, providing the opportunity for the speaker to make the message known. Wise is the speaker who gains and then holds the attention of an audience, with well-chosen words in a well-delivered presentation, forming a message that is effective, informative and understood. And without communication skills, the ability to progress in the working world and in life, itself would be nearly impossible.

    Computer Network means an interconnection of autonomous or standalone computers for information exchange. Networking is not about just connecting people. It’s about connecting people with people, people with ideas and people with opportunities. This Computer Networking Quiz is designed to test the basic knowledge of Computer Networking & security and to rouse curiosity in participants for Computer Networking. As we know networking plays an important role in our lives because it gives access to the World Wide Web, digital video, digital audio, shared use of application and storage servers, printers and fax machines and use of email and instant messaging applications as well as many others. So it’s really important for students to gain interest in computer networking and that was the foremost purpose of the event. Total 79 Students had attempted the Computer Networking Quiz Competition.

    Photography is a powerful tool to tell a story, to share a moment, to spread information. Photography is a creative process and a way to express your idea through images and convey emotions to the viewer. A single blog article is not enough to tell what photography is, probably not even a book. The more we shoot, the more we force ourselves to look around us, and appreciate the beauty. Photography is Important as a Hobby Because You Keep Learning. Photography allows people to communicate what is important to them, helps to preserve history, facilitates communication, enables people to become artists and moves people in ways that words sometimes cannot. The event boosted their confidence to perform in front of an audience.

     

     

     

    The number of students that participated in the competition was 28. The judge for the competition was Mrs. Shrutika Khobaragade, a faculty from the Department of Computer Engineering.

  • Best Out Of Waste Competition

    Best Out Of Waste Competition

    Best out of waste simply means to make or to bring out something innovative and attractive from the material we do not use anymore, which we call waste. It is such a simple process to REUSE, RECYCLE and REDUCE the waste. Controlling the amount of waste sent into landfills. Enables the students to give this creativity & innovation a shape so don’t throw things away before making sure they are used in some other way. This event was organized by the Students’ Council of Computer Engineering Department to provide a platform for students to showcase their talent with creativity. It also helps the students to get recognition in the department and also refurbish their skills. The event boosted their confidence.The number of students that participated in the competition was 15. The judge for the competition was Mrs. Archana Arudkar, faculty from the Department of Computer Engineering.

    The theme of the competition was ‘HOLI’. Rangoli making is an integral part of Indian tradition and culture. Beautiful rangolis adorn the Indian houses specially during festivals so we kept this competition on the special occasion of the great festival of colours HOLI so that everyone could participate with great enthusiasm and could be comfortable in drawing rangoli in front of their house’s. The number of students that participated in the competition was 10. The judge for the competition was Ms. Snehal Chitale, a faculty from the Department of Computer Engineering.
