ISRO Pillai’s (PHCET) OutReach Network Institute

Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology (PHCET) is a Network Institute with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) from 20th June 2017, under Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS). The well designed ISRO Lab is set up in PHCET with all course materials in the form of books, online notes and videos are available. This lab was inaugurated by Dr. D. R. M. Samudraiah, Deputy Director (Retired), Space Application Centre (SAC), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on 9th January, 2018. LIVE online Lectures are conducted by elite scientists from ISRO campus through Edusat Program initiative in PHCET Campus.

Till Date PHCET has conducted 18 Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information System (GIS) Edusat program, 3 National Level Workshop, 1 week Short Term Training Program (STTP). A total of 3,445 students from various PHCET branches have registered in these courses and ISRO has certified these students for their knowledge by conducting ONLINE exams.

Prof. Karthik Nagarajan as the IIRS ISRO Network Coordinator

IIRS Outreach Programme focusses on strengthening the Academia and User Segments in Space Technology & its Applications using Online Learning Platforms. IIRS distance learning program was initiated in 2007 with the participation of 12 universities in India. Till date, IIRS has successfully conducted 22 programs through live and interactive classrooms (also known as EDUSAT programme) and also launched 5 online courses under e-learning programme.

Currently IIRS Distance Learning Programme is being conducted through following modes.

  2. E-learning based online courses (http://elearning.iirs.gov.in)
