    Faculty Seminar Series – F.E.

    Applied Sciences and Humanities Department organized the Faculty Seminar Series from 15th to 23rd June, 2020. The Faculty Seminar Series enabled Collaborative learning and developed Research interest among faculty members. The faculty members enthusiastically discussed topics of their research area. The Seminar was conducted using online platform through Google meet app. The details of the research seminar can be found below.

    Topic: Energy Scenario and Prospects of Hydrogen as a Clean Future Fuel
    In this seminar, the speaker discussed current energy scenario across the globe. The speaker further elaborated the revolutionary changes in resources, renewable energy,production, transportation and state storage of hydrogen as a clean future fuel.

    Ms. Sunita Khansole
    Topic: A Review on new roles of teacher during and post COVID-19 Blackboard to Broadband
    The Lecture presented by Ms. Sunita Khansole surveyed the history of education system from the Gurukul system to the 21st century. The Speaker explained challenges involved in online learning and compared the role of a teacher in traditional and modern learning. The seminar also emphasized the importance of ‘Blend Learning’ along with the usage of modern tool in teaching and research.

    Topic: Basics of Solar Photovoltaics
    The speaker explained Photovoltaic Effect in brief. The seminar highlighted the important components of solar panel with types of connections and functions of various parts of solar PR system.

    Topic: Analytical and Numerical methods to solve partial differential equations
    The speaker illustrated several examples and types of Analytical and Numerical methods to solve differential equations. The seminar focused on advantages & disadvantages, applications and future scope of Analytical and numerical method.

    Topic: Metal ceramics preparation and its application
    The seminar focused on synthesis of metal ceramic and elaborated its application in rubber like material, effect of organic and inorganic ceramic on lubricating / processing oil & plasticizer.

    Mr. Jagdish Parate
    Topic: Al and Mathematics
    The speaker discussed Artificial Intelligence (AI) in-depth. AI and its type was explained with some fine examples for precise understanding. The speaker defined neuron and neural network in detail and explained various branches of mathematics involved in AI.

    Ms. Harshada Pratham
    Topic: Matrix and its Application
    The Speaker defined matrix and concept of eigen values and vector with its application.

    Mr. Vikram Pawar
    Topic: Language and Literature/Religion Philosophy New Trend
    In the lecture, the speaker compared two ways impact of religion on literature and its reflection on social life. The seminar presented recent trends in English language teaching, Buddhist philosophy, Research ethics and plagiarism control.

    Ms. Poonam Patil
    Topic: Modernism in T.S. Eliot – The Wasteland
    The seminar revolved around the absurdity of the modern era. The speaker explained how the poet depicts the suffering and vagueness of life in the face of modernity throughout the poem ‘The Wasteland’.

    Ms. Suma Lalit
    Topic: Robert Frost : An American Poet
    Biography of the eminent poet, Robert Frost was presented by the speaker. The speaker also explained importance of poetry in literature and discussed 10 other renowned poet in English literature.

    Dr. Avinash Kamble
    Topic: Set, Multiset & Fuzzy sets
    The broad objective of multiset and fuzzy set through the concept of classical set was explained by the speaker. Numerous practical application of fuzzy set was presented with several examples. The seminar showcased how fuzzy set is effective in decision making, where data is imprecise and vague.

    Topic: An Introduction to the Liquid Crystal
    A brief introduction to the liquid crystal, its application and different phrases using optical polarization microscope was explained in-depth.

    In the seminar, definition of topology, its properties and applications was illustrated with several basic examples.

    Topic: Number Theory and its application
    The seminar surveyed the history of Number theory and explained related concepts like division algorithm, prime numbers, fermat little theorem along with its application in day–to-day life.

    Topic: Introduction to Probability
    Meaning and application of Probability with related basic terms such as Experiment, trial of experiment, sample space were explained with some interesting examples.

    Webinar on “Data Science”

    The webinar on “Data Science” was organized on Monday, 22nd June, 2020 for the students of the Computer engineering department at 03.00pm through Google meet platform. This webinar helped students to get knowledge of an upcoming domain that is data science. Speaker delivered a brief knowledge about the usage, techniques and algorithms of data science. By giving real time examples and stories the speaker had captured the attention of all participants throughout the session. Total 68 students and 5 faculties attended the webinar. Dr. Ashok Kanthe, Head of Computer Engineering Department, ended the session with a vote of thanks. Feedback link was sent to the participants and e-certificate were mailed to their registered mail ids.

  • Online Digital Art Event ‘DigiArt, 2020’

    Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology, Rasayani organized an online Digital Art event, ‘DigiArt, 2020’ for students and teachers to showcase their artistic skills. In this event participants were allowed to use any digital art creation tool under certain constraints on easiness. This event was conducted on 21st June, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m.. Over 50+ students registered and participated in the event. The contest had 3 themes, COVID Warriors, Post Pandemic World & Climate change. Participants had to choose any one theme and were given 7 hours to complete their artwork. The artworks were judged by Mr. Kashyap Raut who has 3 years of industry experience in Anime & Manga creation. The judging parameters were Originality, Colour shading, Topic coverage & Artwork details.

If done effectively, the interview enables the student to determine if an applicant’s skills, experience and personality meet the job’s requirements. It also helps the students assess whether an applicant would likely fit in with the corporate culture. In addition, preparing for an interview can help clarify a position’s responsibilities.

    Moreover, to the extent that the interview process leads to the hiring of the most suitable student, it can help contain the organization’s long-term turnover costs. Applicants also benefit from an effective interview, as it enables them to determine if their employment needs and interests would likely be met.

    Expert Talk: Speaker Mr. Aamir Shaikh started the session with presentation of rules laid by university of Mumbai on marking scheme and limitation on number of group members which is four student per group. Sir explained various phases throughout the year which students will come across. Stage –I presentation consists of three topics given by group out of which best of three will be finalised by committee members. Once topic is finalised then Guide with titles will be allotted and displayed.

    Stage- II presentation will be on topic finalised and 40% work has to be completed by end of Sem-VII. Stage–III presentation will be for status of hardware components in Sem–VIII. Stage-IV presentation will be prior to the final Viva with 100% work to be shown. Students were told to choose members wisely as they have to work for one year with dedication. Students asked doubt which were answered by Speaker.

    Session was continued by Ms. Pranita Chavan. Mam explained technical specification of projects and how students should choose core electrical subjects so that they can relate them with subjects and can answer confidently during placements. Students should think on cost and resource availability for project topic finalisation. Students should plan timeline and work on it by answering all queries raised during literature review. Meeting with guide at regular interval is mandatory as it will be helpful for students.

    Mam concluded session with motivation to all students to choose topic where each group can participate inter collegiate and inter district competition and win prizes for our department and college. Students asked few examples which was solved By Mam.

    Industry Expert Session on “Ethical Hacking”

    Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology, Rasayani organized an Industry Expert Session on “Ethical Hacking”. The session was conducted on the digital platform using Google Meet during the Lockdown period. The expert is a general manager at Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited. The session dealt in the basics of Ethical Hacking and also the various tools for Hacking. The expert gave participants an insight of different types of hackers (i.e. The Ethical Hacker (White hat), Cracker, Grey hat, Script kiddies, Hacktivist, Phreaker). The most crucial part of the session was when he addressed all the expectations that a company has when a student attends an interview for the post of cyber security. All the participants were given a certificate. There were 72 participants for the session.

Students interacted with the counsellor and expressed their problems of not able to concentrate in studies, depression and other various mood swing issues were discussed. Various Yogic practices of Relaxation and meditation Techniques was also practiced by all the participants. Counsellors also counselled to remove negative emotions, depression, anxiety and to focus on happy living

    Students were motivated to utilise time and work with NGO for making masks, distribution of sanitizer and work in all possible way to fight against Corona. Students were shown presentation on online platform and asked to discuss doubt without hesitation. Bhavesh Kalyankar student from B.E. Electrical asked question about positive thinking and he was happy by the support of college.

    Mam explained the scenario of current situation with examples and we as responsible citizen should contribute to state government and central government and together as a nation we will win against Corona. Various projects like Mask with face image can be made to provide needy and projects related to sanitization, safety, cleanliness should be done and as an engineer projects done will be boon to society. Mental stress management is key in such lockdown condition because we have to cope up with daily stress. With positive thinking we as a nation will overcome this pandemic and post pandemic planning of education and finance should be done.

    This expert session has great impact on students as well as faculties for awareness of Covid-19 and how to deal with it as well as planning of future.

    Total 72 participants have attended the session and all have given positive feedback and requested to conduct such session in future also.
