    Day 1: Relaxation and Meditation

    Date: 3rd January, 2022

    Dr. G. V. Patil Certified heartfulness yoga trainer and Head of Mechanical Engineering Department gave students insight on importance of Meditation. He conducted Heartfulness relaxation and gave brief on What is meditation and its importance. At the end of the session students asked few queries related to meditation and yoga to improve concentration that was promptly answered Dr. Patil.

    Day 2: Cleaning and Rejuvenation

    Date: 5th January, 2022

    Day 2 started with relaxation and discussed doubts related with previous day meditation. The second part of mediation is introduced to students through animation video. After discussion actual practice guided session conducted for students.

    Dr. G. V. Patil commenced the day with an expect session on spiritual training. He strived to impart Rejuvenation and meditation training among students. He further explained how meditation is an excellent technique to strengthen core and improve concentration. He presented wonderful technique to practice meditation in day –to-day life. Students and faculty were made to practice few meditation techniques to improve their mental health and finding their inner selves.

    The four days offline ASM Materials Camp organized by the institute innovation council at the PHCET Rasayani is a joint program in association with ASM International Materials Foundation USA & ASM International India Chapter This is an outreach program designed to expose concepts of advanced materials and their applications in industries. Hands on experiments are planned on Design, Fabrication of PCBs, Sensors,3D printing, Making Shaping & Treating of steels and their Structure property correlation (Mechanical, NDT , Microstructural) under the guidance of Professors, Industry Experts and students from IIT Bombay & PHCET Rasayani. Short lectures and interactive Lab Sessions will culminate in Drone Workshop on the last day.

    Concurrent with this we organised a drone workshop for one full day at PHCET by the AeSI. The objective of this program was to provide vocational guidance, promote activities related to materials manufacturing, aviation and aerospace. It also aimed to reach out to school students from remote areas and excite them to pursue careers in materials engineering and activities related to aviation and aerospace. One day drone workshop held on 19th December, 2021 at the PHCET research and innovation center where students learned about drone concepts, drone making, flying and controlling with their mobile devices.

    Bio-data of Speaker: Dr. Virendra Kumar Gupta is currently Head, R&D Polymer & Senior Vice President, Reliance Industries Limited, Navi Mumbai. Before joining Reliance Industries Limited, he worked at the Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited & Gharda Chemicals Limited, India. Dr. Gupta has received his PhD in Chemistry from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and worked at University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA.

    He has 40-year research experience in the areas of CO2 fixation, organic/ inorganic polymers & catalysis and product technology development. He is an inventor / co-inventor of 150 patents and successfully commercialized 25 technologies in polyolefins & polysulfones products and processes. He also has 70 research publications in peer-reviewed journals and 75 invited and contributed presentations in international & national conferences. His significant & high impact technology development includes commercialization of High-Performance Ziegler Natta catalysts to produce polyolefin first time in India. He is a recipient of VASVIK award and 20 technology and product development awards including PC Ray awards for Development of Indigenous Technology by Indian Chemical Council.

    He is also members of various industry and professional advisory committees. He is chairman of Industry Advisory Board (IAB) of the Polymer Science Program of Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Vice President, Society of Polymer Science India – Mumbai Chapter and Executive Council Members of Polymer Processing Academy & Asian Polymer Association. He also served as Executive Council Member, Central University of Haryana and Honorary Faculty at IIT, Roorkee.

    The webinar started with welcome of the speaker and Principal, J. W. Bakal. Then initially talk was delivered by Dr. Virendrakumar Gupta, who is Head R&D & Senior VP, Reliance Research. He gave insights all about polymer material which can be great substitute for plastics industries in India. He shared his all experience and his journey with students. Session ended with vote of thanks given by Dr. G. V. Patil, Head of Mechanical Engineering.

    Cleanliness Drive at PHCET under ‘Clean up Navi Mumbai’

    A clean environment is an indicator of the progress of human beings and with the motto of clean environment Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has initiated ‘Clean up Navi Mumbai’. The NSS unit of PHCET has taken this opportunity and initiated a cleanliness drive outside the Panvel station in association with AIESEC Navi Mumbai. As a part of regular NSS activities, our NSS unit has organized a cleanliness drive outside the Panvel station and across the approach road. The activity was started at sharp 7:30 a.m. on 14th November, 2021. The aim of the drive is to clean public places like areas around Bus Stand and Railway Station.

    During this activity, volunteers have cleaned the road of Panvel Railway Station, Panvel Bus Station, Parking Area, some part of slum area, playground and chopped the unwanted bushes along the roadside. They collected dry and wet waste separately so that it will be easy to recycle. All the garbage bags are collected at one place and then dry waste is sent for recycling and wet waste to the dumping area with the help of NMMC cleanliness workers. For this cleanliness activity, the whole NSS unit is divided into 2 groups. One group has taken the responsibility of area near the railway station and other group looks towards bus depot area. Gloves and bags for garbage collection are provided to volunteers.

    Some of the passerby public also joined with volunteers in this work and they appreciated the efforts of NSS Volunteers while mentioning they said that selfish spirit of NSS to serve the Nation and society is really appreciable being a true inspiration for today’s youth. About 18-20 volunteers actively participated in this drive under the guidance of NSS coordinator Prof Rekha Dhawan and Dr Avinash Gatade. In this way, the whole activity was conducted successfully with great spirit and enthusiasm.

    PHCET placement cell organised career counselling session for under graduate students. Dr. Prashant Lokhande was invited as a trainer for this session. The program is intended to enable students about various opportunities in public sector. The students could qualify various competitive exams conducted by public as well as private sector and able to join at early age.

    Trainer explained students about various scholarship opportunities in upcoming years. One of the key benefits of scholarship exam is that it ensures students get admitted inright program which could have otherwise away from their approach.

The main idea behind this is to create awareness of recent trends in Technology.

    The smartest approach to qualify for any competitive exam requires a blend of regular study, planned routine, group discussions, mental piece and activities.

    Session aware students about major competitive exams conducted in country such as NEET, JEE Main, JEE Advanced, MPSC, UPSC etc.

    Game of Code Competition 4.0

    Coding Club is from the Department of Computer Engineering. The coding competition, Game of Code 4.0 was coordinated by Mrs. Babita Bhagat and organized by Harsh Shah. The event was organized to test the coding skills of the students and help them compete with their college mates after a good response in the Game of Code 3.0 organized before. Various language options were available for coding. The competition duration was from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. 30 students participated in the coding competition.
