    The key speaker, Mr. Dharmesh Vaya is the Google Developer Expert for Google Cloud Platform and Payments, as well as Cloud Solutions Architect, he has over 14 Years of experience in developing and driving Cloud strategies across the large organization. Apart from this, he actively manages the Google Developer Groups (GDG) Cloud Mumbai, and has taken many sessions on various google technologies.

    A total of 115 students and faculty had registered for the event. Mr. Dharmesh commenced the session by explaining about the cloud technology and infrastructure, history of cloud, how cloud came into existence in various different stages, introduction to the google cloud platform, and then discussed about many different APIs available on the Google Cloud Platform for developers to use and Integrate in our ongoing projects, he explained about the key APIs and features of GCP, as told us about various use-cases for many of these APIs and features present in the Google Cloud Platform.

    Later in Question answer session, participants asked their doubts and questions. The speaker took all the questions and explained them, he also specified important certifications in cloud for freshers and job opportunities on this domain. After QNA session, the Lead of the Google Developer Student Club, PHCET discussed the upcoming event on Android Development for all the students and faculties, as well as the upcoming Android Study Jams for all the students to develop their skills and gain certification in Android Development.

    The session ended with vote of thanks by Ms. Neetu Pillai, Faculty Co-ordinator. Later Feedback link was sent to the participants and E-Certificate were mailed to their registered mail ids. Positive feedback was received from all participants.

    Mrs. Pragati Gupta has more than 25 years of experience. She has completed her B.E. with silver jubilee merit award for securing highest marks in BE examination of Dibrugarh University. She got VJTI Gold Medal for securing highest marks in M.Tech., 2010. She has industrial as well as teaching experience. Currently she is working as Assistant Professor at VJTI, Matunga and pursuing Ph.D. in Electrical Engg. from IIT, Bombay. Her area of research is Wide Area Measurement system using Phasor Measurement Units.

    The webinar on the topic, “Wide Area Measurement System (WAMS) in Power Systems using PMUs” was organized under student chapter IEI and special interest Group Power System for all the undergraduate Engineering students. The main objective of the webinar is to get brief idea about new concept of WAMS and its application in power system. Prof. Aamir Shaikh introduced the Speaker and Session started.

    The guest made the session very interactive. She has started the session with basic concept of power system. She gave detailed history and overview of National Grid with their MW capacity and also, the HVAC, HVDC transmission system detailed overview. Then she shifted the presentation towards introduction of WAMS, its significance and application in power system. The concept of WAMS and PMUs were explained with application in power system protection. The session was really informative and students gained the knowledge of new area WAMS which will help them for selecting Project topic in future. The session was carried out through the online Google Meet platform around 65 Students and faculty participated enthusiastically.

    The session ended with a vote of thank speech given by Prof. Pranita Chavan. The feedback link circulated among the participants and E-certificates were provided.

    Mr. Akhil Arun Menon is currently working as an Assistant Professor at Schools of Computer Science and Information Technology (Department of BCA), JAIN (Deemed to be University) since last 5 years. He has completed his Master’s Degree (Embedded Systems) from BITS PILANI Institute and B.E. (Electronics) from Pillai College of Engineering, New Panvel. He has also published papers in journals for example on “A systematic Study of Progressive Authentic Trust Based Security Techniques for Cloud”, and many more.

    Prof. Sanobar Sayed did an introduction of the speaker and started the session.

    Guest Lecture:
    Speaker started with the key points to be considered while making attention grabbing resume. He explained the type of templets and standard resumes available in the market, how students can create professional resume. He has also shown students some website having lots of information which is necessary while preparing first resume. He also shared his resume and experience he gained in his carrier. He highlighted the benefits and trends of making resume on social networking site which are strictly profession like LinkedIn. He has also given brief overview of useful websites. Students were motivated after listening to his experience.

    Student from B.E. Electrical and T.E. Electrical, asked questions about websites for helping resume writing and the speaker gave satisfactory answers to all the queries.

    This guest lecture session has great impact on soft skill development of students.

    Total 71 participants have attended the session and all gave positive feedback through the form circulated after the session. They have also requested to plan more such informative sessions in future that could give them more insight.

    We have a recording of whole session for those who were unable to join us due to network issue or some other unavoidable circumstances.

    Coding Club is from the Department of Computer Engineering. The coding competition, Game of Code 3.0 was coordinated by Mrs. Babita Bhagat and organized by Harsh Shah. The event was organized to test the coding skills of the students and help them compete with their college mates after a good response in the Game of Code 2.0 organized before. Various language options were available for coding. The competition duration was from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Total 40 Students Have Participated in the coding competition.

    Virtual Inauguration-cum-Webinar of ASTR Student’s Chapter

    The Virtual Inauguration-cum-Webinar of ASTR Student’s Chapter was held on 8th October, 2021 at 3 p.m. The meeting began with a prayer and the introduction of all the chief guests. The Principal of PHCET, Dr. J. W. Bakal and Head of Civil Department Mr. Raju Narwade gave their respective speech on the background of PHCET. The president of ASTR Mr. Vedant Sawant introduced all the members of ASTR students’ chapter to the chief guests and gave a speech on the events conducted by ASTR students’ chapter till then. Dr. Gopal Rai (General Secretary, ASTR) gave the Webinar on “New Dimension to Structural Rehabilitation as Future Profession”. The virtual inauguration of ASTR students’ chapter was done by Dr. G. R. Reddy (President, ASTR). The meeting came to an end with a Vote of Thanks by secretary of ASTR students’ chapter Miss Anjali Sharma. It was a very informative session and many positive feedbacks were received.

    A Webinar on “Optsim Simulation Tool for Fiber Optic Communication” was organised under IETE Student Forum by the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering for B.E. students on 7th October, 2021. Prof. Santosh Jagtap, Assistant Professor Vidyalankar Institute of Technology was invited as guest speaker for this session.

    Department IETE student forum Coordinator Mr. Pratik Mhatre organised this event. The speaker explained the usage of this software and different scenarios which can be helpful in studying technologies like Non Linear Optics, Wavelength Division multiplexing & Optical Amplifiers. The QA part of the session was really fruitful as students took part actively and cleared their queries.

    Session feedback submitted by students has confirmed the effectiveness of the session.

    A Technical Quiz on “Geotechnical Engineering” on account of Birth Anniversary of ‘Karl Von Terzaghi – Father of Geotechnical Engineering and Soil Mechanics’ was organized for students of Civil Engineering across all engineering colleges to test the knowledge in Geotechnical Engineering. The quiz was conducted on 2nd October, 2021 from 9.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m.

    A total of 300 students from more than 20 institutes had participated in it throughout the country. The registration was free of cost. The Quiz had 30 questions of 1 mark each. The students who obtained 50 percent of marks have been provided with the certificate. The response from the students was also exciting. Maximum number of participants attended the quiz with good dedication. Head of the Department Prof. R. P. Narwade and all faculty members of the department worked together for successful completion of quiz.

    Seminar on “International English Language Proficiency Exam”

    The department of Applied Sciences and Humanities organized a Seminar on “International English Language Proficiency Exam” for the students. The guest Speaker Myrunmayee Sathe. Expert IELTS trainer explained the test and its component. The four sections Listening, Reading, Writing and speaking was briefly explained with a valuable tips and strategies for each section. She further elaborated the technique to listen carefully and identify key words and taking notes during listening section of the test. Ms. Sathe emphasized a technique to skim and scan the passage quickly. In writing section the speaker discussed different types of essays such as argumentative, descriptive and discursive. She provided tips for speaking section of the test like vocabulary building, coherence, use of appropriate choice of words and maintaining eye contact with the examiner. The seminar ended with doubt solving session. A total number of 170 students attended the seminar and imbibed the knowledge on IELTS and its band score to clear the examination successfully.
