    Orientation Program for Direct Second Year Civil Engineering Student

    Department of Civil Engineering organized Direct Second year Orientation Programme on 3rd January, 2022 at Conclave-I. The Program started with a Warm Welcome to the all the Second Year Students. Dr. J. W. Bakal, Principal delivered a welcome speech and introduced various college activities and the achievements the college has achieved with constant pursuance of excellence. Mr. Raju Narwade, Head of the Department, enlightened the students about Civil department and various departmental activities, such as lab facilities, various technical, and co-curricular activities and extracurricular activities, achievements of students in technical competitions and sports, syllabus pattern, examination scheme and other activities in the department. He also introduced placement facility, gym, sports activities, mentoring system, student welfare, library etc.to the students. The outcomes of this orientation program will provide good academic information regarding academic programs, policies, and regulations that enhance student learning.

    Cleanliness Drive at Sawale Village 2021-22

    A clean environment is an indicator of the progress of human beings and with the motto of clean environment the NSS unit of PHCET has taken this opportunity and initiated a cleanliness drive at the SAWALE Village on the occasion of Republic Day. As a part of regular NSS activities, our NSS unit has organized a cleanliness drive across the approach road. The main purpose of this programme was to create awareness among the citizens regarding Cleanliness and its benefits. The activity was started at sharp 12:00 p.m.

    The aim of the drive is to clean public places like areas around Auto Stands and Gardens. During this activity, volunteers have cleaned the road of Sawale village, some part of slum area, playground and chopped the unwanted bushes along the roadside. They collected dry and wet waste separately so that it will be easy to recycle.

    All the garbage bags are collected at one place and then dry waste is sent for recycling and wet waste to the dumping area with the help of Panchayat of the Village. For this cleanliness activity, the whole NSS unit is divided into 2 groups.
    Some of the passerby public also joined with volunteers in this work and they appreciated the efforts of NSS Volunteers while mentioning they said that selfish spirit of NSS to serve the Nation and society is really appreciable being a true inspiration for today’s youth. About 20-25 volunteers actively participated in this drive under the guidance of NSS coordinator Prof Rekha Dhawan and Dr. Avinash Gatade. In this way, the whole activity was conducted successfully with great spirit and enthusiasm. It was a unique experience for all of us. We were curious to be the part of this great drive that could have transformed the face of our country for ever.

    Blood Donation Camp at Sawale Village 2021-22

    Donating blood is a vital way to help save lives. Along with helping save lives, there are a number of reasons why donating blood is important. A single donation can save three lives. Blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person. Therefore to create awareness, NSS unit, The Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology in association with Rotary Club, New Panvel conducted a Blood Donation Camp on 26th January, 2022 at the SAWALE Village on the occasion of Republic Day. There was good response from villagers and NSS volunteers. Around 17 Blood Donors donated 350ml – 450ml of the blood. A certificate of appreciation and refreshment was given to each donor as a token of gratitude. The blood bags collected were given to Shree Sai Blood Bank, New Panvel for further processing. After the donor donates blood he was provided with immediate help by NSS volunteers by giving him tea, coffee, fruity and banana.

    NSS Unit of PHCET has organised a VOTERS’ DAY Awareness Quiz as we celebrate January 25 as “National Voters Day” since 2011 in order to spread awareness , encourage voters about voting rights and thereby increase enrolment of voters, especially of the new young ones.

    Total 59 Students had attempted the Voters’ Day Awareness Quiz.

    The seminar on calculator is conducted on 16th January, 2022 by Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities .The seminar is attended by all the First year students of PHCET Rasayani. The seminar has started with an introduction of resource person by Mrs. Sunita Khansole, where she also highlighted about the need for calculator education.

    GDSC PHCET conducted an event for the undergraduates to provide them a chance to learn how to create apps utilising the newest toolkit compose, the modern way to develop UI on android.

    The speaker for the event was the lead of GDSC PHCET Ms. Khushnuma M. She conducted an open interaction with the members and briefing about the compose camp was given to the students. Further step towards the Compose was, the groups were formed and team leaders were appointed. The speaker also gave an introduction about the Code labs.

    The students participated in the discussion with great enthusiasm and formed the groups for the same.

    A hands-on workshop event called On Device Machine Learning Using Tensorflow Lite was organized by the CSI PHCET on 15th January, 2022. At the event, Mr. Sunit Roy served as the keynote speaker. He’s a freelance software developer, Kolkata Twitter Developer community lead and one of the Google Summer of Code participants at Tensorflow.

    In order to make the event engaging for students, we offered hands-on events where they could learn about Machine Learning using TensorFlow Lite.

    The speaker shared plenty of valuable information with the audience, including tips and tricks. It was indeed an interactive session that offered many learning opportunities. As a final note, giveaway winners were also announced. Participants demonstrated a high level of energy at the event. They all appeared to have a great time.

  • Pranayama and Yoga Session

    Pranayama and Yoga Session

    Dr. G.V. Patil Certified heart fullness yoga trainer and Head of Mechanical Engineering Department gave students insight on importance of Meditation . He put light on Gaytrimantra, Suksham Vyayaam, different yoga postures, Surya Namaskar, Chandra Namaskar, Shavasna, Om chanting Pranayam, Sudarshan Chakra, Meditation, Dhayana and many more. Students performed yoga and different types of yoga postures following the instruction given by Dr. Patil . At the end of the session students asked few queries related to meditation and yoga to improve concentration that was promptly answered Dr. Patil.

    He strived to impart Rejuvenation and meditation training among students. He further explained how meditation is an excellent technique to strengthen core and improve concentration. He presented wonderful technique to practice meditation in day–to-day life. Students and faculty were made to practice few meditation techniques to improve their mental health and finding their inner selves.
