Elocution Competition on “Decarbonizing India”

The Student Chapter Committee of Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) at Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai’s HOC College of Engineering & Technology, Rasayani, has conducted Elocution competition on ‘‘Decarbonizing India’’ on 24th January, 2024. This competition was one of the initiative to celebrate ‘Harit Prem Bharat Mahotsav (HPBM) 2024’ The theme for this year HPBM 2024, Decarbonising India. Total 20 students participated in this event.

Training Program on “Soft Skills Training and Hands on Training on MS Office Tools”

Objective	1. Enhance the interpersonal and technical capabilities of non-teaching faculty members to improve their effectiveness in the workplace. 2. Focus on essential industrial soft skills, including teamwork, communication, and time management, complemented by hands-on training in MS Office tools such as MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint. 3. Empower participants to handle administrative tasks more efficiently using advanced MS Office functionalities.

The training program was tailored for the non-teaching staff members of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Conducted on 13th January 2024, the event had 12 participants in attendance.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Saurabh Sirsikar, a seasoned trainer with expertise in industrial training and office tools.

Inauguration:
The program began with a welcome address by the coordinator, Mr. Hemant Patil, who highlighted the importance of soft skills and technical proficiency for non-teaching staff in their day-to-day roles.

  Importance of effective communication and professional behaviour in industrial and academic environments.
  Emphasis on teamwork and time management, in handling responsibilities.
- Hands-On Training in MS Office:

  Formatting documents professionally for reports, memos, and official correspondence.
  Using tools like headers, footers, styles, and tables.

  Managing data using formulas, functions, and formatting techniques.

  Using templates, transitions, and animations to enhance slides.

Practical Activities:
Participants worked on creating professional documents in MS Word, organizing data in MS Excel, and preparing presentations in MS PowerPoint.

Participants shared that the session helped them significantly improve their technical skills in MS Office and clarified how to apply these tools to their daily tasks.

One Week Offline Faculty Development Program on “Emerging Trends in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics”
A 5-Day AICTE sponsored Faculty Development Programme on “Emerging Trends in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics” was conducted from 4th to 9th December, 2023 in which around 50 participants from different colleges were participated. The inauguration was held on 4th December, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Keynote Speaker for the program was Dr. Bernard Menezes Professor, IIT Bombay and Dr. Virendra Singh, IIT Bombay. There were many eminent speakers from top academic institutions like IIT Bombay, D Y Patil Deemed University, D. J. Sanghvi College of Engineering and industry experts from top industries delivered expert talks during various sessions of the program who delivered the speech on trends in cyber security and digital forensics. Principal, Dr. J. W. Bakal addressed the participant’s about FDP and various initiatives taken by Pillai HOC college of Engineering, Ms. Rohini Bhosale, Head of the Dept, Computer Engineering talked about CSE Department Roles and Responsibility in our college. The Physics Exhibition for First-Year Engineering Students was a resounding success, achieving its objectives of promoting experiential learning, stimulating scientific curiosity, and facilitating meaningful interactions among students and faculty members. The event not only enriched students’ understanding of physics but also inspired them to explore the limitless possibilities of the natural world. Moving forward, such initiatives should be encouraged to nurture a culture of scientific inquiry and innovation among engineering students..

Highlights of the Exhibition:

Interactive Demonstrations: Various interactive demonstrations were set up to illustrate key physics principles such as electromagnetism, optics, mechanics, and thermodynamics. Students had the opportunity to engage with the exhibits and observe the practical applications of theoretical concepts..

Experimental Setups: The exhibition featured experimental setups designed to demonstrate fundamental laws and phenomena in physics. From pendulum motion to electrical circuits, students could observe and analyse these experiments first hand, deepening their understanding of scientific principles..

Project Presentations: Students were encouraged to showcase their own physics-related projects, ranging from simple experiments to innovative prototypes. This provided an opportunity for students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problems and share their findings with peers and faculty members.

Three Day Heartfulness Meditation Program (Nov. 2023)

Day 1: Relaxation and Meditation

Date: 4th November, 2023

Dr. G. V. Patil Certified heartfulness yoga trainer and Head of Mechanical Engineering Department guided students on meditation and yogic techniques, simple rejuvenating method to detox mind and heart. Students learned the role of various techniques and asana that predominately help our mind to be control of all the emotions. He further asked student to sit in meditative position with closed eyes and let go of stress and complex emotions and feeling light and refreshed.

Day 2: De-clutter the Mind

Day 2 started with relaxation and discussed doubts related with previous day meditation. The second part of mediation is introduced to students through animation video. After discussion actual practice guided session conducted for students.

Meditation Session
Dr. G. V. Patil commenced the day with an expect session on spiritual training. He strived to impart Rejuvenation and meditation training among students. He further explained how meditation is an excellent technique to strengthen core and improve concentration. He presented wonderful technique to practice meditation in day–to-day life. Students and faculty were made to practice few meditation techniques to improve their mental health and finding their inner selves.
