The Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities organized a parent teacher meeting on 7th October, 2023 in the 9th floor Auditorium, Main building. Around 750 students & parents attended the meeting. Ms Poonam Patil anchored the meeting. The meeting was addressed by Dr. Manvendra Vashistha (HOD, ASH). After the address of HOD, students and Parents were divided division wise and Teacher Guardian wise. They interacted with Class coordinator, Teacher Guardian and respective subject experts. The Unit test result, attendance, punctuality of a ward was discussed individually and suggestions for improvement were given accordingly. The parents filled the feedback form and expressed their views.

CSI PHCET organised a highly informative and interactive two day event titled “ETHICAL QUEST.” The event was aimed at second and third-year students eager to enhance their understanding of Ethical Hacking and Cybersecurity, two critical components in safeguarding digital assets and ensuring the integrity of information systems. The event featured Mr. Ajinkya Lohakare as the esteemed speaker. Mr. Ajinkya Lohakare widely recognized as Cyberguru Ajinkya, is a distinguished professional in the field of cybersecurity, currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Ditto Security. With a formidable reputation as an Ethical Hacker, he holds certifications as a Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI) and a Licensed Penetration Tester (LPT). Beyond his technical expertise, Mr. Lohakare is a sought-after speaker, having graced the stages of Josh Talk and TEDx events. Additionally, Mr. Lohakare extends his influence through podcasting, where he shares his knowledge and experiences, further establishing him as a prominent figure shaping conversations in the realm of cybersecurity.
Mr. Ajinkya Lohakare began by introducing the concepts of Ethical Hacking and Cybersecurity. He explained the file system structure and key directories of Kali Linux Interface. The speaker delved into the fundamentals of Kali Linux, covering topics such as basic line commands for file manipulation, navigation, and system administration. Students also learnt about networking tools available in Kali Linux, such as Wireshark and Netcat. The speaker also provided overview of tools like Burp Suite for web application security testing. Students learned how to capture and analyse network traffic for security assessment. They had the opportunity to learn about cybersecurity incidents and the tools necessary to navigate and secure today’s complex digital landscape.
The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session where students could ask questions and seek clarifications on Ethical Hacking and Cybersecurity topics. The event was a testament to CSI PHCET’s commitment to fostering technical knowledge and innovation among its students.

Electrical EngineeringThe workshop provided participants with a deeper understanding of fundamental electronic principles. They gained insight into how electronic circuits work, the roles of various components, and how these components are interconnected.
Attendees became familiar with key electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes, transistors, optoelectronics and printed circuit boards (PCBs). Through hands-on practice, participants honed their practical skills in using electronic components effectively within circuits. This practical experience reinforced their theoretical knowledge and prepared them for real-world applications. At the end of the session, students were allowed to visit PCB lab to witness the practical aspects of electronic circuit design, fabrication, and testing.
Prof. Narendra Dhande’s expert guidance bridged the gap between theory and practical. Participants benefited from his theoretical explanations and practical demonstrations, gaining a holistic view of electronics.
The positive feedback and satisfaction expressed by participants indicate that the workshop boosted their confidence in working with electronic components and circuits. They left the workshop feeling more capable and prepared for future electronic projects.

Engineer’s Day & Teachers Day 2023
The Celebration of Engineer’s Day and Teachers Day celebration organized by Department of Information Technology was organized on 15th September, 2023 at 2.00 p.m. onwards. S.E., T.E. and B.E. Student welcomed all the faculty members of Information Technology Department. Lamp lighting was done after the felicitation. Then Dr. Divya Chirayil was more briefed about importance of the Engineers and Teachers Day. Every student should understand the significance of becoming an Engineer and feel proud of their profession was the outcome of the event.

September 15 is celebrated every year in the country as “Engineers’ Day” to commemorate the birthday of the legendary engineer Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, an eminent Indian engineer.

Department of ECS, Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology (PHCET), Rasayani in association with the IETE Students Forum organized an Expert Talk on “Creative Healthy Spaces through Technology” on 15th September, 2023 on the occasion of Engineer’s Day.

Conclave: IIETE Student team welcomed the gathering. Dr. Mansi Subhedar, Head department of ECS introduced the speaker, Dr. Vinit Kotak, Professor, Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College, Chembur, Mumbai. Speaker explained the concepts like the technology behind AI nurses, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, Humanoid robots etc.
Different Case studies of robots equipped with ultraviolet (UV) light have been used for disinfecting public spaces, hospitals, and transportation systems. Speaker also explained about uses of technology in post covid challenges.
Total 90 students and faculty members of ECS department benefited from this expert talk.
Outcomes of the expert talk are:
- The talk helped participants gain a deeper understanding of how technology can contribute to creating healthier spaces.
- Participants were introduced to innovative solutions and technologies that can be used to enhance the health and safety measures.
- The talk inspired participants to think creatively and explore new approaches in designing and managing technologies behind healthcare sector

Web Design Contest
The Department of Electronics and Computer Science had organized a “Web Design Contest” for third year ECS students on 14th September, 2023. Ms. Pooja Kulkarni coordinated the event. Students were given following two problem definitions:
Design a web page of IETE student forum for the Department of Electronics and Computer Science which includes IETE Information, IETE Council Members, Registration details, login page, Payment options, etc.
Website that tells you the location of the nearest e-waste collection and recycling facility, offers educational pop-ups on the harmful components of your e-waste and their effects on the environment and human health if not disposed correctly. There could be an option to input the model of your old device and earn credit points relative to the amount of precious metals recovered from the device if disposed correctly.Mr. Upendra Patil and Dr. Mansi Subhedar evaluated the web designs developed by the students. The evaluation was based on novelty of the idea, technical coverage, level of complexity, accuracy, and content and reliability. Around 35 students showed their active participation in the contest out of which 3 best designs were selected. Principal, Dr. J.W. Bakal and Head of the department, Dr. Mansi Subhedar awarded certificates and prizes to the winners.
The event ended with the vote of thanks to the Principal, supportive faculty members and staff, and the students.

Workshop on “GitFusion: Bridging Developers & Repositories”
CSI PHCET organised a highly informative and interactive event titled “GitFusion: Bridging Developers & Repositories.” The event was aimed at second and third-year students eager to enhance their understanding of version control systems and collaborative software development using Git and GitHub. The event featured Mr. Rishabh Mehta as the esteemed speaker. He is a distinguished Google Developers Educator, specialising in Android development. His upcoming role as a GET i.e (Graduate Engineer Trainee) at Jio reflects his commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation. Rishab also served as the former Lead of GDSC PHCET and is part of the PHCET Comps Batch 2019-2023 and also worked as the main coordinator in Hackoverflow 1.0.

Electrical EngineeringThe Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) built a 1,500 MW HVDC link between the cities of Chandrapur and Padghe (Near Mumbai) – the first HVDC transmission link to Mumbai. The converter terminals were constructed by ABB (Sweden and India) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) of India. The 500 kV Chandrapur – Padghe HVDC Bipole feeds Mumbai on the west coast with 1,500 MW from a thermal power generation plant located near Chandrapur in the eastern part of Maharashtra State 752 km away. The link helps to stabilize the Maharashtra grid, increasing power flow on the existing 400 kV AC lines while minimizing total line losses.
