A clean environment is an indicator of the progress of human beings and with the motto of clean environment the NSS unit of PHCET has taken this opportunity and initiated a cleanliness drive at the SAWALE Village on the occasion of Republic Day. As a part of regular NSS activities, our NSS unit has organized a cleanliness drive across the approach road. The main purpose of this programme was to create awareness among the citizens regarding Cleanliness and its benefits. The activity was started at sharp 12:00 p.m.

The aim of the drive is to clean public places like areas around Auto Stands and Gardens. During this activity, volunteers have cleaned the road of Sawale village, some part of slum area, playground and chopped the unwanted bushes along the roadside. They collected dry and wet waste separately so that it will be easy to recycle.

All the garbage bags are collected at one place and then dry waste is sent for recycling and wet waste to the dumping area with the help of Panchayat of the Village. For this cleanliness activity, the whole NSS unit is divided into 2 groups.
Some of the passerby public also joined with volunteers in this work and they appreciated the efforts of NSS Volunteers while mentioning they said that selfish spirit of NSS to serve the Nation and society is really appreciable being a true inspiration for today’s youth. About 20-25 volunteers actively participated in this drive under the guidance of NSS coordinator Prof Rekha Dhawan and Dr. Avinash Gatade. In this way, the whole activity was conducted successfully with great spirit and enthusiasm. It was a unique experience for all of us. We were curious to be the part of this great drive that could have transformed the face of our country for ever.
