    The event conducted for the all students of PHCET to get the idea about Blockchain technology and the booming career opportunities in this field. The industry expert Mr. Nikhil Aparajit from Lumos Lab given the expert lecture and hands on session. He demonstrated wallet concepts, smart contracts etc. He explained the blockchain terminologies and given a road map to build the career in Blockchain. Total 182 participants attended the session. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a photo session.

  • NSS Day 2022-23

    NOT ME, BUT YOU.” The motto of NSS itself suggests that NSS volunteer always places the ‘community’ before ‘self’. Hence every year 24th September is celebrated as NSS Day.

    Owing to above occasion NSS Unit of Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology, Rasayani also celebrated NSS day. Chief guests for the event was Mr. Haridas Mokal, who serves as Raigad district NSS Co-ordinator. The whole event was conducted in online mode. Event started with introduction of our chief guests and then Haridas sir guided us. He ellaborated all the duties and responsiblities of NSS volunteer and importance of NSS day. He explained us that NSS volunteers are those who understand the community in which they work, who understand themselves in relation to their community, who identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process and develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility. His words were just a great motivation for all. All volunteers were inspired to work effectively and efficiently by his guidance.

    About 30 students wittnessed this celebration. And whole event was successfully conducted under the guidance of NSS Co-ordinator Prof. Rekha Dhawan and Dr. Avinash Gatade.

    Hands on Workshop on “Django”

    To train tech-minded students Department of Information Technology has successfully conducted Hands on Workshop on “Django”. The event was conducted on 22nd September, 2022 in the lab D-312 between 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On this momentous occasion it was our proud privilege that we were blessed with Mr. Harshad Dagade as a speaker.

    The event began with the formal introduction of guest speakers. To express our affection and reverence towards our guests Principal of PHCET Dr. J. W. Bakal and IT Department HOD Dr. Divya Chirayil felicitate the guest.

    After that Principal of PHCET Dr. Bakal sir addresses all the participated students and motivate them to study a lot and brighten their future.

    Workshop started with some basic operations of Python and installation of Django module.

    After all the required prerequisites and necessary basic operation related to Python they started with all advanced operations of Django.

    Students enthausiatly asked all their doubts which were running in their minds while performing the Hands On Practice and all this doubts were cleared at the same time by the professionals.

    The event was led and executed successfully under the guidance of event Co-ordinator Prof. Rupali Sathe and Prof. Poonam Lad. About 40 students of Information Technology departments willingly participated in this event to make this event successful. All the participated were awarded with workshop completion certificates.

    DAS Offshore Limited was established as an engineering and construction company mainly for fabrication of offshore structures in 1992. With passage of time, the company has diversified into various areas and presently serves sectors such as upstream / downstream hydrocarbon, water supply, infrastructure etc. The core service area however continues to be upstream oil & gas.

    The new Rohini Yard is located at village Rohini, Taluka Mhasala, Dist Raigad, Maharashtra. 125 km by Road, off NH17 (Mumbai-Goa Highway). It is on the south Bank 10kms inside the mouth of Rajpuri Creek, opposite the famous Janjira Fort.

    Industrial Visit was organized at DAS offshore, Rohini yard division, Mhasala on 22nd September, 2022. The visit was organized for final year students of Mechanical, Electrical and Civil Engineering. Dr. G. V. Patil (Head-Mechanical Engg. Department) taken initiative for the same and this Visit is sponsored by Bureau of Indian Standards, Mumbai Branch Office-II under standard club formed by BIS in PHCET. Mr. Vaibhav Bhagat (Faculty Coordinator of Standard club), Mr. Hemant patil, Mr. Atul Jade, Mr. Asokan S., Mr. R. D. More and Mr. Prashant Singh shared the responsibility for successful conduction of the event. Mr. Ashok Pawar (Power Plant incharge) of DAS offshore guided the students first and then the complete group in divided into three sub groups as per Mechanical, Civil and Electrical domain for a visit. These sub groups were accompanied by domain heads of the industry. A total of 65 students from Mechanical, Electrical and Civil participated in this Industrial visit.

    The visit was organized to make students familiar with Different manufacturing processes and specialized fabrication processes for offshore projects. In this company students also saw the berthing of ships, loading / unloading of unmanned oil platforms and approach channel for safe navigation.

    Students also saw the covered workshop with state-of-the-art equipment for cutting, piping, fabrication of steel plate, beam, pipe spools etc., pre-assembly work and assembly of different structures etc.

    Printed Circuit Boards are an essential part of electronic connections to generate mechanical support. Conductive tracks, pads, and other features are etched from copper sheets laminated onto a non-conductive substrate to connect capacitors, resistors, or active devices which are generally soldered on the Printed Circuit Board.

    Department of Electronics & Computer, Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology (PHCET), Rasayani in association with IETE Students Forum (ISF) organized a Two Days Hands-on Workshop on “Design and Make your own PCB” on 22nd and 23rd September, 2022.

    The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. J.W. Bakal, Principal with his motivational speech. Later ISF Faculty coordinator Mr. Jayesh Rane briefed about the ISF students Chapter and events conducted under the IETE Students forum. Dr. Mansi Subhedar, Head, Department of ECS guided students on the importance of PCB design in an engineer’s life and its benefits in Mini and Major Project Designs. She also discussed the significance of participating in extracurricular activities and future plans of the department regarding student development programs.

    The resource person for this workshop is Mr. Shubham Thakur, Research Associate, PCB Labs, Certified PCB Analyst & Design Engineer, ESSCI. Mr. Shubham Thakur conducted a theory session that includes the basics of PCBs, manufacturing, and various aspects of designing PCBs. Complete workshop expenses were funded from the ISF fund received from IETE, New Delhi.

    The main objective behind this hands-on workshop is to get the participants to learn:

    • To design PCB layout in the software
    • To gain practical knowledge of the PCB fabrication steps
    • To implement project ideas using hardware

    The following projects are developed by students in the Workshop:

    1. Rain Alarm Circuit
    2. Battery Level Indicator
    3. Doorbell Circuit
    4. 555 Timer IC Tester
    5. Christmas LED Light

    Around 67 students benefited from two days workshop. Participants have given very positive video feedback and good comments relevant to the projects. Such workshops help in value and skill addition also students can increase their scope of the job opportunity. Participation certificates are awarded to every participant of the workshop.

    A concluding speech to motivate the students to participate in such a workshop was given by the head of the department Dr. Mansi Subhedar. Madam appreciated the efforts of all students for their active participation and interest in participating in the workshop and also mentioned the activities conducted in the college by the department. Madam promised that the department will continue its assistance in conducting these types of workshops and seminars in the future too.

    The expert talk started at 11:30 a.m. in conclave-I. Mr. Jayesh Rane, Assistant Professor, Department of ECS was the speaker invited for the expert talk. He explained the architecture, implementation and applications of various AR and VR development tools. The following tools are explained in an expert talk which are used for the implementation of AR and VR Technology:

    2. AR Tool Kit
    3. Vuforia Engine
    4. Blippbuilder

    Total 67 students and faculty members of ECS department benefited from this expert talk.The session was very interactive and students showed their interest in the implementation of various AR and VR technologies.     Department of Computer Engineering organized a Felicitation Ceremony for Smart India Hackathon Winners and Engineer’s Day Celebration on 19th September, 2022. This event was held at 9th floor auditorium in which more than 200 students were present from Department of Computer Engineering.

    The event started with a quick introduction and lighting of lamp followed by speech of Faculty coordinator Ms. Rajashree Gadhave ma’am and Principal Dr. J. W. Bakal sir. The winning teams of Smart India Hackathon Team Smart Geeks and Team Rutezz were felicitated along with their parents by Principal and all the head of departments. There was an experience sharing session where the students expressed their feelings and their journey. After the felicitation ceremony there were some speeches on Engineer’s Day. A quiz competition was held for S.E., T.E. and B.E. students. Where students had to guess the Codes, CEO’s, sci-fi movies and also some GK questions. Vote of thanks was given by Ms. Rohini Bhosale, Head of Computer Engineering department.

    The students were motivated by the success of winners. They were influenced by the speeches, activities and actively participated in the quiz session.

    About STTP: This STTP focused on conservation, storage and utilization of conventional and non-conventional energy resources which includes engineering applications of hydrogen energy, solar energy and wind energy. Currently global market faces issues to maintain sustainability in the context of environmental economy and social needs. To mitigate energy conservation and storage challenges eminent speakers from industry and academia have been invited. Industry experts explored various opportunities in energy sector to develop entrepreneurship skills and job opportunities. STTP included one day industry visit to explore real life issues and solutions in the energy sector. Eminent personalities form industry and academia explored business strategies to maximize the profit and reduce the energy exploring cost.

    STTP Objectives
    This STTP have been scheduled to achieve following objectives:

    • Utilization of conventional and non-conventional energy resources

    Department of Civil Engineering, Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology organized an Expert Lecture on “New Generation of Concrete Technologies” on 16th September 2022. The eminent speaker for the program was Dr. Hemant B. Dhonde, PhD Director (C-Probe Technologies) & Principal Counselors (.edu) Adjunct Professor (Govt. College of Engg., Pune). The session started with opening notes and welcoming of guests by the student coordinators. Resource persons explained about the Materials, Mechanisms (Nano-To- Meso) & Structural performance. He also gave the knowledge about current trends in Concrete Technologies such as ultra-high strength concrete and use of maturity meter in while constructing using concrete. The Program was held in Conclave-I, in which 43 students of third year Civil Engineering department attended the seminar (Expert lecture).

    Google Developer Student Clubs PHCET organized an orientation program for the academic year 2022-23. The event was all about the brief review of the GDSC PHCET and revealing of core team members and was conducted on institute level. The faculty and 200+ students attended the program from all the technical branches.

The lead selected for academic year 2022-23 was felicitated by the HOD. Further the former senior core team was admired for their contribution to the club. Session continued with the overview of past events, introduction to the club’s application, upcoming events and perks & benefits of joining the club. The senior core team was felicitated by the HOD and the Junior core team was revealed. The event concluded with a vote of thanks.

    Students from all over the branches showed interest in the club’s activities and joined the club. The event encouraged them to be a part of GDSC PHCET.
