    DSE PTM Electronics and Computer Science OSAY 2022-23

    Parent Teacher Meeting for DSE students was organized on Saturday 7th January, 2023. Principal Dr. J. W. Bakal addressed the gathering with his speech with warm welcome and appreciation of parents for attending the Offline Parent Meet. He discussed about the foundational course in Mathematics introduced for better understanding of Math’s subject. He focused on many aspects of teaching and learning. Head of the Department, Dr. Mansi Subhedar discussed the efforts taken by the department for technical as well as overall development of students. She discussed about Internal assessment – I performance and attendance. Class teacher Mr. Mithun Nair discussed the efforts taken by the Subject-In-Charges for covering syllabus in stipulated time. Parents discussed queries regarding IA-2 and Prelim exam, oral / Practical exam. Meeting was closed with a vote of thanks on behalf of the department and assured parents about organizing such interactions on frequent basis. Parents reported their feedback in the form of appreciating the efforts taken by the institute and the department for their ward’s bright future.

    Session on “Google Summer of Code”

    On 4th January, 2023, GDSC VELTECH and Google Developer Student Clubs PHCET jointly hosted an educational and engaging session. More than 800 students from India’s technical disciplines attended the program.

    The program began with an audience interaction session, during which several students indulged in forging new connections. Mr. Suraj, the GDSC VELTECH lead, introduced Mr. Vinayak Sharma, the event’s speaker. The lecturer began by describing what GSoC is in reality. The online session included knowledge, excitement, and anticipation of a new campaign. Each and every participant received a certificate of participation. With a vote of appreciation, the ceremony came to an end.

    The informational seminar garnered a lot of interest from the students. The learning that was supported was efficient and effective, and the pupils were happy with it.

  • Jamming with Gaming

    Jamming with Gaming

    Google Developer Student Clubs PHCET organised a gaming session for the college students and outsiders to get together and have a free conversation. The students came together and interacted with each other. The faculty and 100+ students attended the program from all the technical branches.

    The event had a fresh start with interaction among the audience. An overview about the club was delivered by the event members. Students participated in multiple games which included Valorant, Wrong answers only, BGMI, LUDO etc. Later on the club members and students watched the game changing performance of FIFA world cup 2022. The event concluded with a vote of thanks.
    Students from all over the branches showed interest in the club’s activities and joined the club. The event encouraged them to be a part of GDSC PHCET.

    Visit to Techfest – IIT Bombay

    The PHCET students had a truly remarkable and enriching experience when they attended the prestigious “TECHFEST – 2022” at IIT Bombay in December 2022. This remarkable technical festival provided them with an exceptional platform to interact with experts from renowned companies across the globe, gaining invaluable insights into the latest advancements in the industry. The students were particularly captivated by the International exhibition, where they immersed themselves in cutting-edge technologies that are driving the industry forward. Furthermore, engaging in fruitful discussions with Ph.D. students from IIT broadened their horizons and deepened their understanding of research in the field. Undoubtedly, this visit was an invaluable opportunity that significantly enhanced their knowledge and passion for the subject. Mr. Asokan S, Assistant Professor from the Department of Electrical Engineering, organized the visit.     Session on “Git and GitHub”

    Google Developer Student Clubs PHCET organised an interactive, fun and informative program on 11th December, 2022. The event was all about Git, GitHub and its advantages. 80+ students attended the program from the technical branches.

    The event had a fun-filled start with an interactive session with the audience as many students indulged in making new connections. The GDSC PHCET lead, Ms. Khushnuma M. guided the students about this platform right from scratch. The online session had elements of fun added to keep the students engaged through games and interesting quizzes that were conducted. Certificate of participation was provided to all the attendees. The event concluded with a vote of thanks.

    Students showed great interest in the informative session and were content with the comprehensive picture of Git and GitHub provided to them. The students were satisfied with the facilitated efficient and effective learning they got.

    Department of Electronics & Computer Science, Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology (PHCET), Rasayani organized a “One Week Faculty Development Program on Digital Circuits and Microprocessors” on 28th November to 2nd December, 2022 sponsored by Wadhwani Electronics Laboratory (WEL), Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay. Department has collaborated with this agency for Pilot project on Skill development.

    Resource persons for this FDP were Mr. Hitesh Sahu and Mr. K. Akhilesh Rao from Wadhwani Electronics Laboratory (WEL), Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay. The FDP addressed the various aspects of Advances in Digital Circuits and Microprocessors. This FDP was aimed for department faculty. A total of 6 faculty completed the hands-on training in this programme.

    Total 10 training boards were received form Wadhwani Electronics Laboratory (WEL), Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay. The course material such as handout / supporting documents, videos are also provided from resource persons via the LMS.

    These trained faculty will be involved in training upcoming batches under this pilot project.

    Students attending Lecture at Conference Room, RGL, ONGC, Panvel

    The Students were exposed to different types of ONGC exploration activities including, study of conventional cores, identification of different rock types, study of fossils – a tool for identification of age and environment of deposition, etc.

    This visit was of great help to the students, in gaining proper understanding of the subject and its practical utility in the Industry.

    Seminar on “Design and Construction Aspects of Chenab Arch Bridge”

    The Department of Civil Engineering, Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology organised an Seminar in collaboration with Association of Structural Rehabilitation (ASTR), Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS) and Institution of Engineer(India) organising a seminar on “Design and Construction Aspects of Chenab Arch Bridge” (A world’s Highest Railway Bridge). Mr. Shashank Rajbhoj (Deputy General Manager) Afcons Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd of Shapoorji Pallanji group of companies was invited as the speaker for the event on 15th October, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Conclave-II, PHCET. The event was coordinated by Dr. Karthik Nagarajan and Mr. R. P. Narwade.
