  • Har Ghar Tiranga – Patriotic Movie

    Har Ghar Tiranga – Patriotic Movie

    On account of AZADI KA AMRUT MAHOTSAV, as per guidelines received from Government of India and NSS cell, University of Mumbai NSS Unit is asked to implement “HAR GHAR TIRANGA” initiative.

    Owing to above reason NSS Unit PHCET has also planned various events. One of the event planned under this initiative is ‘Patriotic Movie’. Event is conducted on 12th August, 2022 at Conclave I of PHCET premises between 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m..

    Aim of showing patriotic movie is to arouse love and pride, encourage people to stand by their countries, and reinforce a sense of national belonging. To evoke audience emotion and to pay tribute to the sacrifices of our freedom fighters, and promote patriotism, brotherhood and unity in diversity. The movie planned under this event is ‘THE GHAZI ATTACK’. This movie is inspired by true events from the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. The story is about a submarine of the Indian Navy, an executive naval officer and his team, who remained underwater for 18 days.

    Event started with the singing of National Anthem together to unite all the present students. After this movie was started.

    The whole patriotic movie event was enjoyed by about 150 students from various departments of PHCET. This event was successfully conducted under the guidance of event coordinator Prof. Kajal Patel and NSS Co-ordinators Prof. Rekha Dhawan and Dr. Avinash Gatade.

    Art Competition 2022

    On account of “Azaadi ka Amrut Mahotsav”, NSS Unit of Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology, Rasayani organized “ART COMPETITION”.

    This event was a part of the celebrations of 75 years of Independence.

    “Art connects what words cannot”, keeping the same ideal at the forefront, students of PHCET participated in this event. This event was having competition of drawing, singing and rangoli to develop the creative minds of the students. As it was a part of celebration of 75th Independence theme was patriotic.

    In this event 22 students from various branches have participated and thereafter the judges declared the result of the competition and the names of the winners were announced by around 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon.

    Such victories highlighted the artistic splendour of the students.

    • Values, such as, cooperation, team work, caring and sharing, discipline, compassion for nature and animals, respect for others, appreciation for cultural diversity and cultural heritage
  • Blood Donation Camp 2022-23

    Blood Donation Camp 2022-23

    Donating blood is a vital way to help save lives. Along with helping save lives, there are a number of reasons why donating blood is important. A single donation can save three lives. Blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person. Therefore to create awareness, NSS unit, The Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology in association with Rotary Club, New Panvel conducted a Blood Donation Camp on 8th August, 2022 at Engineering Reception, Ground floor, Engineering bldg., PHCET, Rasayani. There was good response from students, staff and NSS volunteers. Around 85 Blood Donors donated 350ml-450ml of the blood. A certificate of appreciation and refreshment was given to each donor as a token of gratitude. Mr. Aditya Shinde coordinated the event with NSS team. The blood bags collected were given to Rotary Club Blood Bank, New Panvel for further processing. After the donor donates blood he was provided with immediate help by NSS volunteers by giving him tea , coffee , fruity and banana.

    Seminar on “The Power and Potential of Metaverse”

    The department of Electronics and Computer science organized a Seminar on “The Power and Potential of Metaverse” on 8th August, 2022 at Conclave II from 3.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. for Computer, IT and ECS students. The aim behind organizing this seminar was to orient students how metaverse is revolutionising the industry and the opportunities created for the youths.

    Mr. Pankaj Raut, CEO of AjnaLens and recognized as one of the most influential thought leaders in Immersive technologies in India was invited as a speaker for this seminar. AjnaLens is a Mumbai-based company making immersive augmented, virtual and mixed reality devices and software solutions for Defence, Enterprise and Skilling sectors. It is the first and only XR hardware OEM to manufacture AR/VR glasses in India. Mr. Raut briefly explained emerging technologies like AR, VR, Mr, IoT, Digital Twin etc. He also guided students about how to build a career in Metaverse.

    Around 100 students of different disciplines attended the session. The seminar was very useful for the students. They interacted freely with the guest and shown their interest towards career in metaverse. The session ended with a vote of thanks to the speaker by Dr. Mansi Subhedar, Head of ECS department.

    Hands on Workshop on “Android Application Development”

    To train tech-minded students Department of Information Technology has successfully conducted 2 days Hands on Workshop on “Android Application Development”. The event was conducted on 5th and 6th August, 2022 in the Computer Centre at lab 313 between 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On this momentous occasion it was our proud privilege that we were blessed with Ketan Anil Khapare, (B.E. (ExTC) – Project Manager, S.M.A.R.T. Technologies) and Akshayee Bharat Dhule (M.E. (ExTC) – Software Engineer, S.M.A.R.T. Technologies) as a speaker.

    The event began with the formal introduction of guest speakers. To express our affection and reverence towards our guests IT Department HOD Dr. Divya Chirayil and ISTE coordinator Prof. Rupali Sathe felicitate all the guests with bouquet.


    On the first day of workshop they started with installation of android and some basic operations of android.

    On the second day they have started with some advanced operations such as Calculator app, Intent app, Number list, Menu bar, etc.

    Students enthausiatly asked all their doubts which were running in their minds and all this doubts were cleared at the same time by the professionals.

    The event was led and executed successfully under the guidance of ISTE Co-ordinator Prof. Siddhesh Khanvilkar and Prof. Rupali Sathe. About 110 students of various departments willingly participated in this event to make this event successful. All the participated were awarded with workshop completion certificates. 2 days of Hands on workshop was mind blowing and once in life time experience for all the participants.

  • Pseudo Code Competition

    Pseudo Code Competition

    The department of Electronics and Computer Science organized a Pseudo Code Competition on Friday, 5th August, 2022, under the IETE student forum. Ms. Pooja Kulkarni, Assistant professor ECS department took the initiative to organize this competition for SE ECS, TE EXTC and BE EXTC students. The competition started at 2.30 p.m. A question paper of 30 marks was set and 40 minutes were given to solve it. Around 70 students participated in the competition. Mr. Jayesh Rane, IETE co-coordinator was invited to evaluate the papers of the competition. The winners were chosen based on the time required and the logic applied to develop the code.

    The prize distribution ceremony was organized on Monday, 8th August, 2022, in the department at 4.00 p.m. Honorable Principal, Dr. J.W. Bakal was invited to felicitate the winners. He congratulated all the winners as well as participants for taking active participation in the competition. He guided students about the importance of such competitions and their benefits in the future. He also appreciated the department faculty for their efforts to organize such competitions. Dr. Mansi Subhedar, Head of the department also motivated students to take active participation in such technical events. In the end, she presented a vote of thanks to the Principal Sir, the Coordinator, and all other faculty members.

It also includes other types of rights, such as trade secrets, publicity rights, moral rights, and rights against unfair competition.

    Conclave – I

    Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology (PHCET), Rasayani in association with the IETE Students Forum organized a Seminar on “Intellectual Property Rights and Patenting” on Thursday, 4th August, 2022.

    The Seminar started at 2:45 p.m. in conclave-I. Ms. Prachi Sorte introduced the invited speaker for the session, Dr. B. K. Sarkar. Dr. Divya Chirayil, Head of the Department of IT, guided students about various areas of patenting and also motivated students about the importance of IPR and Patenting in academics.

    Dr. B. K. Sarkar gave a brief introduction to IPR and explained the various related terms such as copyrights and patents. Students were guided on how IPR restricts copying others’ ideas and how this will help the development of new ideas for the betterment of society. Speaker also explained, how IPR provides total control over an innovation and its creator. Students and faculty members also learned about how small innovations influence societies at large and how they should indulge in innovating and patenting ideas that will be useful for all classes of individuals in society.

    Total of 67 students and faculty members of the IT department benefited from this Seminar. The session was very interactive and students showed their interest in the topic. The program concluded with a QA session followed by a vote of thanks to the speaker by Ms. Poonam Pathak, ISTE Faculty Coordinator.

    The seminar started with the inauguration function, where Dr. J. W Bakal the Principal of PHCET, Dr. B.K. Sarkar the speaker of the session, Prof. Rohini Bhosale the Head of the Computer Engineering Department, faculties and students were present. Total 262 students and faculty members attended the seminar.

    In the session the speaker explained how to find out the novel idea and how this novel idea can be converted into projects. He explained how to make the business model of the projects and how to approach the industries for funding. He given the idea about the Intellectual Property Rights and Patent Filing.

    The session concluded with the interactive session between the resource person and the participants in which the queries of the participants were addressed satisfactorily.

    Expert Talk on “Internet of Things Architecture, Protocols, Applications, Security Threats and Solutions”

    IoT has made it possible for the physical world to meet the digital world and cooperate with each other. It offers numerous benefits to organizations by enabling them to automate and simplify their daily tasks. Keeping the importance of IoT in near future, an Expert Talk on “Internet of Things Architecture, Protocols, Applications, Security Threats and Solutions” was organized by the department of Electronics and Computer Science on Wednesday, 3rd August, 2022, for ECS, EXTC and electrical students. The seminar started at 2.00 p.m. in conclave I. Dr. Mansi Subhedar, Head of the ECS department was the speaker invited to the seminar. Ms. Pooja Kulkarni, coordinator of the event welcomed the speaker and the gathering. She gave a brief introduction to the speaker and the seminar. In total, 82 students benefitted from this seminar.

    Dr. Mansi Subhedar discussed the introduction, architecture, different cloud platforms, protocols, etc. She also focussed on IoT-enabling technologies, applications in various fields, and future challenges. Security threats to IoT applications and solutions to them were also discussed in detail.

    The session was very interactive and students showed their interest to do IoT-based projects. The session ended with a vote of thanks to the expert speaker and participants.

  • Workshop on “How to write a Pseudo Code”

    Workshop on “How to write a Pseudo Code”

    The department of Electronics and Computer Science organized a Workshop on “How to write a Pseudo Code” on Monday, 1st August, 2022, under the IETE student forum. This workshop was mainly organized as a prerequisite for the Pseudo code competition. Ms. Pooja Kulkarni, Assistant Professor in the ECS department conducted this workshop for SE ECS, TE, and BE EXTC students. The workshop started at 10.30 a.m. in Conclave I. Opening remarks and introduction of the workshop were given by Dr. Mansi Subhedar, Head of the ECS department. Around 75 students attended the workshop and took active participation in it. The speaker explained the difference between algorithm, flowchart, pseudo code and actual program code. She also trained students on how to think and develop logic to find the solution to the given problem. Some sample exercises were also planned for the students. Students were made to write pseudo code for 4 to 5 problem definitions.

    Students found the workshop very useful and they were satisfied with the content. The workshop ended with a vote of thanks to the speaker.
