    Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology, Department of Computer Engineering organized a hand on Workshop on “Let’s start with R”. on 11th August, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. to 01:30 p.m. Participants were enlightened with the knowledge of resource person on R Programming. Mr. Mehul Kumar Bauskar is Associate System Engineer at Tata Consultancy Services (Client – NSE [FSI]) from last 2 years, Expert in the field promises to provide valuable insights into world of R Programming as well as he is Visiting Faculty at Aptech Learning Panvel.

    Over 50+ students of BE Computer Engineering and faculty participated in the session.

    Various hands-on skills were unfolded by the eminent speaker during the workshop. The following are some of the topics discussed and taught in the session by the speaker:

    1. The overview of R Programming Language and R libraries used for insightful data visualizations.
    2. Use of R programming for data science and machine learning.
    3. Applications of R in industries such as academics, healthcare, government, insurance, energy, finance, retail, media, manufacturing, technology, and electronics.
    4. Hands on taken for R programming libraries for data science. Like Dplyr,Ggplot2,Shiny,Lubridate,Knitr and Various commands related to them.

    Students enjoyed and learned a lot during the Session. The session ended with vote of thanks by Ms. Rohini Bhosale, HOD, Computer Engineering Department.

    Seminar on “Awareness of Industry Required Civil Engineering Software”

    Department of Civil Engineering, Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology, in collaboration with Association of Structural Rehabilitation(ASTR) and Institute Innovation Council (IIC), organized a seminar on “Awareness of Industry Required Civil Engineering Software” on 10th August, 2023. An eminent speaker for the program was Mr. Anjaneya Puli, Civil CADD Trainer. The session started with opening notes and welcoming of guests by the program coordinator. The main objective of this seminar was to enable students to understand the use of different software’s in Civil Engineering and increase overall effectiveness in software education.

    Resource person explained in detail regarding various software’s and increasing demand for that in the Industry. He also explained the use of software’s over conventional manual methods by giving examples. Question answer session was held towards the end of the session. 102 participants were registered for the orientation. The session was conducted by an eminent speaker in Conclave 2. Participants provided their feedback in hardcopy which was shared with them. Certificate was awarded to all participants who attended the sessions and gave feedback.

    TCS NQT is a renowned recruitment drive conducted by TCS for entry level positions in the IT industry.

    TCS Team briefed students regarding the importance of various processes to be followed during placement, they explained to students about opportunities in TCS, work culture, and growth in all aspects in TCS family.

    Explain to students and make them understand different career opportunities, procedure to appear for that career.

    Swatantra (Independence Day Celebration 2023)

    Swatantra (Independence Day Celebration) was conducted between 10th to 12th August 2023, in which we organised various events such as( Drawing Competition, Rangoli Competition, Photography and poetry Competition and Cricket tournament) in this event all the participants were given certificates and winners were hounded with Different Prizes.

    • Rangoli Competition was conducted on 10th august 2023 in which winners were given certificates’.
    • Cricket tournament was Conducted on 11th august 2023 in which cash prizes were given:-
      1st prize = 1.5k cash + trophy + medal
      2nd Prize = 1k cash + trophy + medal
      and Certificate of Participation to all the participants.
    • Poetry and Photography Competition was conducted on 12th August 2023 through online mode in which all the participants’ were given certificate of participation and winners’ were given winners certificate.

    Session on “Behavioral Training and Cultural Barriers’

    Department of ASH organized a Session on Behavioral Training and Cultural Barriers for first year engineering students of PHCET on 8th August, 2023 in the 9th floor Auditorium. The objective of this session is to highlight the significance of Professional Behaviors and cultural barriers in various communication contexts. During the session the resource persons Ms. Poonam Patil and Ms. Suma Lalit P screened related videos and students participated in the discussion post screening. The session was lively with maximum student participation. It helped the students to understand the importance of professional communication and cultural barriers in communication. Around 400 students participated in the event.

    Session on “Language Games”

    Department of ASH organized a session on Language Games for first year engineering students of PHCET on 7th August, 2023 in the 9th floor Auditorium. The objective of this session is to boost confidence among the students in using the language. Learning few language skills like pronunciation and vocabulary along with offering a fun filled relaxing learning atmosphere. During the session the resource person Ms. Poonam Patil and Ms. Suma Lalit P. conducted games for students in which students participated in individually and in groups. The session was lively with good student participation. It offered students a friendly learning atmosphere and lifted their confidence in acquiring language skills. Around 400 students participated in the event.

    Tree plantation drives foster cooperation and environmental awareness.
    Fostered a sense of environmental responsibility among participants and the local community.

    Over 80 NSS volunteers, along with faculty members and the members of Patalganga Rotary club, took part in the initiative. Their collective efforts symbolized the strength of collaboration for a noble cause.

    Sapling Plantation: Around 200 saplings of native species, including neem, banyan, and peepal, were planted. These species were chosen for their environmental benefits and adaptability to the local climate.

    Program started at 03:00 p.m. in Conclave 1. All the Students of Second Year Electronics and Computer Science attended the program. The gathering was addressed by Dr. J. W. Bakal, Principal, PHCET. Principal Sir guided students about importance of minor / honours degree courses, placements and skill development initiatives at the Institute. The Head of the Department Dr. Mansi Subhedar presented highlights of the department including lab facilities, various technical, co-curricular and extracurricular activities conducted over past years, dept achievements, student participation in technical competitions and sports in past years, syllabus pattern, examination scheme and other activities in the department.

    Mr. Jayesh Rane ISF Coordinator discussed IETE registration, fee structure, and benefits of IETE membership. After the presentation, Faculty Members introduced them to students and discussed highlights of their respective subjects. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Shashikant T. Renushe, Class-Coordinator.
