    Event Objective :

    The objective of this event was to create awareness about transitioning the construction and building sector toward a zero-carbon and resilient future, and to encourage students to express their thoughts on sustainable development.

    Event Outcome :

    Students understood the importance of sustainable building practices and gained awareness about the role of civil engineers in enabling a greener and more resilient built environment.

    Description of Event:

    The Student Chapter Committee of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) at Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai HOC College of Engineering & Technology, Rasayani, organized an Elocution Competition on the theme ‘Building the Transition’ on 25 September 2024.

    The event aimed to inspire young civil engineering students to think critically about the future of sustainable infrastructure and the transition towards a low-carbon built environment. A total of 22 students actively participated in the competition, presenting thoughtful speeches on environmental responsibility, green construction, and innovative approaches for sustainable development.

    The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation, showcasing students’ communication skills and their understanding of sustainable engineering practices.

    Event Objective:
    • To provide participants with exposure to emerging Internet standards and digital policy frameworks.
    • To offer hands-on sessions for practical skill development in real-world Internet technologies.

    The AIROI–2 National Workshop was jointly organized by the India Internet Foundation in collaboration with the IEEE Industry Academia Young Professionals Committee (IAYPC 2025), with the support of MeitY, NIXI, Internet Society, IEEE IC, and other esteemed partners. The workshop was successfully held on 2nd September 2025 in online mode.

    Dr. Mansi Subhedar, National Coordinator of the workshop and IAYPC Core Committee member, addressed the participants. The technical sessions were led by Mr. Anand Raje, Founder, IIFON, while Dr. Mansi Subhedar conducted practical sessions on campus. The workshop served as a platform for students, researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers to engage in meaningful discussions, exchange knowledge, and gain practical exposure to the latest developments in Internet standards and the digital ecosystem.

    The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary, IG Division, MeitY, who shared valuable policy insights and the government’s vision for strengthening the digital ecosystem. Mr. Dhruv Dhody, Internet Architecture Board, presented a session on Internet architecture and standards, emphasizing interoperability and global best practices. Mr. Abhijyan Bhattacharyya, Senior Scientist, TCS, shared perspectives on cutting-edge technological advancements and emerging research directions.

    The sessions focused on Internet standards, equipping participants with in-depth technical knowledge and practical understanding. Hands-on sessions further engaged participants in real-world applications and technical exercises, enhancing their problem-solving and implementation skills.

    During the workshop, the problem statements for the Hackathon were released, encouraging participants to develop innovative solutions to real-world digital challenges.

    The AIROI–2 National Workshop proved to be an inspiring and impactful event, successfully combining policy insights, technical depth, and practical experience. With the active involvement of distinguished speakers, supporting organizations, and enthusiastic participants, the workshop not only deepened knowledge but also ignited innovation—paving the way for future contributions to India’s digital growth and global Internet leadership.

    Event Outcome:Awareness was created about the importance of global Internet standards and India’s role in shaping them.
    The workshop motivated participants to explore research opportunities in areas such as DNS performance, post-quantum security, and benchmarking of protocols.

    The AIORI-2 student workshop was conducted on September 01, 2025 in the Department of Electronics and Computer Science, led by Dr. Mansi Subhedar.

    The aim was to help students learn about how the Internet works, how to measure its performance, and how to get involved in creating global Internet standards. This workshop is part of AIORI’s mission to make India a strong contributor in global Internet development.

    Students learned the basics of Internet systems, networking, and tools like PING, Traceroute, and DNS lookups. They also used the AIORI mobile app and platform to test Internet performance and understand protocol behavior. A special hackathon introduced students to international working groups like IETF, encouraging them to start thinking about real-world Internet problems and solutions.

    The workshop was well-received, with students showing great interest in continuing their learning. Many shared ideas for future projects and were inspired to explore research and global collaboration. Overall, the event gave students useful skills, practical experience, and a strong push toward active participation in building a better Internet.

    An expert lecture on UML diagrams for third year students was successfully held on August 18, 2025 with a total of around 170 students. The event commenced with an address by Dr. Rajashree Gadhave, Head of the Computer Department, provided an insightful overview of UML diagrams and how UML diagrams are important in Project Development. Prof. Abhijeet More conducted an in-depth session on UML. He explained the fundamental concepts and various types of UML diagrams. The session provided students with a clear and detailed understanding of UML applications.

    Event Objective:A Logo Design Competition was organized under the banner of the ACI Student Chapter to encourage creativity, visual communication skills, and student engagement in developing a distinctive visual identity for the chapter. The competition aimed to provide students with a platform to express their understanding of the chapter’s vision and objectives through original logo concepts.
    Event Outcome:The competition helped students enhance their creativity and understanding of visual design. It also motivated them to participate actively in future ACI chapter activities through recognition and appreciation of their efforts.

    The Logo Design Competition organized under the ACI Student Chapter was held on 14th August 2025 with the objective of promoting creativity, innovation, and active student engagement in developing the official visual identity of the chapter. Students from various academic years, including Diploma Civil students, enthusiastically participated and submitted original logo designs that reflected the aims, values, and technical spirit of the ACI Student Chapter.

    The entries were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges comprising Dr. G. R. Patil, Dr. Madhulika Sinha, Ms. Harshada Dalvi, and Ms. Pooja Shukre Kulkarni. The evaluation criteria included creativity, originality, relevance to the ACI theme, clarity of concept, and overall visual appeal. Shortlisted participants were invited to present and explain the concept, symbolism, and design elements incorporated in their logos, giving them an opportunity to showcase their thought process and design rationale.

    After a thorough assessment, the judges selected the top three winning designs:

    • First Prize: Shubham Patil and Priyansh Patil
    • Second Prize: Atharva Patil and Apurva Kadve
    • Third Prize: Sami Pathan and Tanmay Mhatre

    Cash prizes were awarded to the winners as a token of appreciation for their exceptional creativity and effort.
    The competition concluded successfully, serving as an excellent platform for students to demonstrate their artistic and conceptual skills while receiving valuable feedback from experienced professionals. The event also helped participants understand the significance of visual communication and branding within professional organizations.

    The ACI Student Chapter extended heartfelt appreciation to all participants, judges, faculty members, and volunteers for their support, which ensured the smooth and effective execution of the competition. Overall, the event significantly contributed to fostering creativity, innovation, and active student involvement within the chapter.

    The Department of Information Technology organized a Seminar on “Path to Perfection: Sharpen Your Communication Skills and Resume” on 14th August 2025. The session began with a warm welcome address delivered by Ms. Rushali Pawar, student of the IT Department, in the esteemed presence of Dr. Srijita Bhattacharjee (Head of the IT Department), Ms. Shibani Bose (Event Coordinator), Ms. Sarita Labde (Event Coordinator), and the faculty members.

    Following the welcome, Ms. Sarita Labde highlighted the objectives and importance of the seminar, while Dr. Srijita Bhattacharjee motivated and encouraged the students with her inspiring words.

    The Key Speaker, Ms. Suma Lalit, addressed the students and shared valuable insights on the importance of effective communication skills and resume building for professional growth. The seminar provided students with practical guidance to enhance their confidence, clarity, and presentation abilities, while also equipping them with tools to design impactful resumes that align with industry expectations.

    The event concluded with an engaging interaction between the speaker and the students, making the seminar a highly successful and enriching experience. The session ended with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Shibani Bose.

She illustrated very useful information regarding the scope of Gen AI in industry, she discussed the mini and major project topics in gen aI . The discussion during the seminar contributed to a better understanding of Gen AI.

    On August 11th, 2025, Aptitude Training Program was held at Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology, Rasayani. It turned out to be an engaging and insightful experience for all participants. The session was aimed at preparing students for interviews by enhancing their knowledge and skills in aptitude tests, a vital part of most recruitment processes.

    The program began with an inspiring address by our Principal Sir, followed by words of encouragement from TPO Ms. Divya Nair. The session was conducted by Mr. Aniket Savardekar, a distinguished professional aptitude trainer from Truskill Academy. An IIT Kanpur alumnus, he brought with him not just expertise but also a passion for guiding young minds.

    Mr. Aniket introduced students to various examples of aptitude test questions and discussed effective problem-solving approaches. He didn’t just focus on theory; instead, he shared practical tips to help students think logically and manage time during exams and interviews. His guidance extended beyond test-taking, touching upon the right ways to present oneself and handles interview situations with confidence.

    What made the session truly special was his lively and interactive teaching style. Instead of a one-way lecture, Mr. Aniket motivated students to face future challenges.

    In short, the training was not only informative but also an inspiring reminder that interviews are as much about mindset and confidence as they are about technical knowledge. Stimulated students to participate actively, work on real-time problems, and even laugh along the way. His relatable examples and quick wit kept everyone engaged, turning what could have been a serious training session into an enjoyable learning experience.

    A site visit to Apta Railway Station was conducted for TE students to provide practical exposure to railway engineering concepts. During the visit, students observed the railway track and its essential components, gaining firsthand understanding of how a track is designed to support and guide trains safely.

    The visit covered key components including:

    • Rails: High-strength steel members that provide a smooth running surface and guide train wheels.
    • Sleepers: Structural supports that hold rails in position, maintain gauge, and distribute loads.
    • Ballast: A layer of crushed stones that absorbs vibrations, ensures drainage, spreads loads, and prevents track movement.
    • Sub-ballast and Subgrade: Foundation layers that provide stability to the overall track structure.
    • Fastenings: Clips, bolts, anchors, and fishplates used to secure rails to sleepers and maintain alignment.
    • Rail Joints and Welds: Connections between rail sections, with modern tracks using continuous welded rails for smoother operation.

    The visit helped students understand the functioning, stability, and engineering considerations involved in railway track construction and maintenance. It enhanced their practical knowledge and linked theoretical concepts with real-world applications.
