The preparation for Olympiad started on 5th February through an awareness webinar conducted for all students of Mechanical and Automobile Engineering. It helped to create awareness among newly admitted students about the Olympiad and simulation of manufacturing process.

The students were adequately trained for the Olympiad by organizing two online training sessions in April. These were half day training sessions by internal faculty like Dr. R.C. Prasad and Mr. Saurabh Sirsikar. It also included one hands on training workshop by Mr. Dhiraj Mishra, Business Development Manager, Qform. These sessions gave the participants sufficient theoretical background as well as hands-on practice of the simulation software Qform. Amongst more than 65 interested candidates 13 were shortlisted based on their performance during the training sessions.

The Olympiad task consisted of the following parts: participating students got a drawing of an axisymmetric part after machining and had to design the hot forged part and die impression for the final forging and then determine the necessary technological chain for its manufacturing and then simulate the proposed forging process. Results are awaited.
