About the Program
Department of Civil Engineering, Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology in association with Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Student’s chapter of ASTR and ISRS has organised a ‘Webinar series under Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship’ on ‘Advancements in Concrete Technology’. A webinar is scheduled every month by the research scholar from IIT Bombay. The program is conducted online with the active participation of the student council of the civil department of PHCET. The topics for the webinar are related to the syllabus of BE, imparting a wider dimension of knowledge. Registration is free and open to students and faculty of PHCET and other colleges in and outside Mumbai. E-Certificates are provided to all the participants.

Objectives
The webinar series was organised to fulfill the following objectives:

• To enhance the knowledge of students and faculty in the field of advancements in concrete technology.
• To facilitate the interaction of students with scholars outside the campus.
• To open new areas of research in the civil engineering field to undergraduate students.
• To help the students to explore new project topics in their career.
• To judiciously utilise the online platform and free time of students for gaining knowledge.

The Student Chapter Committee of Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) at Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai’s HOC College of Engineering & Technology, Rasayani has conducted an International Symposium on “Features of Collecting Loads According to Russian, Indian and European Standards” on 30th July, 2021 Saturday at 4:00 p.m. IST.

Total 230 participants from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Delhi had registered for this webinar.

The webinar was inaugurated with a virtual prayer and a lamp-lighting ceremony. Dr. Shilpa Kewate, convener made the opening comments. She greeted the attendees and introduced the committee members. Mr. Pooja Patkar, Secretary of the PHCET IGBC Students’ Chapter reviewed our previous activities and presented her goals and visions for the coming year. Mr. Raju Narwade, HOD of Civil department proposing welcome address to the participants.

The session was started by the keynote Dr. Zoia Beliaeva. She had briefly explained the key concepts of the various features of collecting loads using Russian, Indian and European Standards and objective of structural deign. The session concluded with an interactive session between the resource persons and the participants in which the queries of the participants were addressed satisfactorily. Dr. Shilpa Kewate, the convener gave a vote of thanks and appreciated all of the participants for joining this webinar. This event was graced by presence Mr. Bhavesh Mehta core committee member CII IGBC Mumbai chapter.

Department of Civil Engineering conducted 2 Days Workshop on “QGIS: Hands on Training” on 28th and 29th July, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Total 380 participants has registered in the workshop and around 202 has attended from Gujrat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamilnadu, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Orisa, West Bengal, Amravati, Pune, Kolhapur, Nashik, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Delhi, Durg, Shopian (192303), Jammu and Kashmir, Sausar (M.P.), Hyderabad, Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Banglore, Belgam, Laxmeshwar (Karnatakka), Chhattisgarh,(Madhya Pradesh), Gujarat, Akola, Wardha, Dhule, Beed, Aurangabad, Lucknow, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Mumbai participated in this workshop. Participants were from different sectors viz several Institute faculty of various engineering and other streams like M.B.A. (NICMAR), Architecture, M.Tech. and Ph.D. students from all over India, Government sectors (Irrigation Department Kokan Bhavan), Practising Engineers and Architects, Contractors, Art, Science Commerce colleges and Industries.

Objective of the Workshop:
This workshop aims to provide a comprehensive knowledge on geographic information system using open-source GIS platform (QGIS) for data collection, data management and mapping.

The two-day workshop is structured in module having different levels of difficulty that can help the student in learning the general concepts of a Geographical Informational System and practices in the real world. The modules include are:

Mr. Shashank C. Bangi is B.E. in Civil Engineering from Basaveshwar Engineering College, Bagalkot, M.Tech. in Remote Sensing and GIS from National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal. Currently he is doing his Ph.D. research work on “Estimation of Actual Evapotranspiration by using Surface Energy Balance based on Remote sensing Techniques” under Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. His teaching and research interests include Remote Sensing, Geographical Information System, Advanced surveying and Water resources. He has taught various subjects at UG level in the field of Surveying, Remote Sensing and GIS Sir has epertise in various GIS softwares such as GIS: ArcGIS, Quantum GIS, GRASS, SAGA GIS, Global Mapper, Google Earth. Remote Sensing softwares : Erdas Imagine, LPS, Envi. Surveying: Total station, GPS, DGPS, Esurveying, Mobile mapping. Ground Water Modeling: Visual MODFLOW. Planning and Design: AutoCAD, Sketchup, 3DS Max, ETABS. Sir has given various invited talks on RS GIS, Surveying, Total station, GIS, GPS and Mapping.

Mr. Shashank C. Bangi explained the various modules of QGIS Session as per session module. He explained in a simple manner so that participants can understand use of QGIS online easily. The session was followed by question-answers where the speaker cleared the doubts of the participants. The workshop concluded with vote of thanks given by event coordinator Ms. Manisha Jamgade and other participants of the event. The webinar was productive as the participants expanded useful ideas for extended by the speaker.

Green concrete mix design makes more effective use of the cement binder. Aggregates replace excess cement paste to give improved stability, less shrinkage and increase in strength & durability. Less cement also generates less heat of hydration. The objective of this International Symposium was to focus on some important characteristics of “Green Concrete Aggregates and Cementitious Materials”.
