    Department of ECS, Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology (PHCET), Rasayani in association with the IETE Students Forum organized an expert Talk on “Machine Learning Algorithms” on 24th March, 2023.

    The expert talk started at 01:30 p.m. in conclave-I. Dr. Mansi Subhedar, Head, Department of ECS was the speaker invited for the expert talk. Speaker discussed in details about machine learning and various algorithms like supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning. Practical details in Python for various concepts like KNN, SVM, Bayes Classifier, Linear and Logistic Regression, K means clustering, Decision Trees were discussed.

    Different case studies of ML in the fields of Computer Networking, Cyber Security, 6 G communications, image processing, bank and finance, agriculture etc. were also discussed during session.

    Total 65 students and faculty members of ECS department benefited from this expert talk. Outcomes of the expert talk are:

    1. Students gained knowledge on Machine Learning and its algorithms
    2. Students acquired prior knowledge to develop applications / projects based on Machine Learning.

    The program concluded with a question and answer session followed by a vote of thanks to the speaker.

    An Industrial visit to “L&T Switchgear Training Centre T-156/157, MIDC Bhosari, Pune” was organized by the Electrical Engineering Department of PHCET on Monday, 22nd March, 2023. 67 Electrical Engineering students along with three Staff Members Prof. Pranita Chavan (HOD), Prof. Aamir Shaikh (Faculty) and Prof. Supriya Shigwan (Faculty) visited to L&T Switchgear Training Centre to interact with the Low Voltage to understand current market scenarios, latest most-demanding technologies & criteria for selection etc. In this visit students were very eagerly waiting for listening to industrial higher authorities. In the Morning at 10:00 p.m. we visited to Switchgear Training Centre. Students were divided in two batch and each was managed for the visit and the interaction with the industry person. The Technical Head of Switchgear Training Centre conducted very informative session for the students. Also he motivated to the students to select their domain and area of interest. He also guided the students to about the Electrical System, Machines, Switchgear Protection, testing etc. and its importance in the current scenario. He also guided on LV Switchgear equipments with their working technology. Finally he gave a brief introduction of Switchgear Training Centre of Pune to the students.

    The main purpose of this visit was to get students familiar with basic LV Switchgear equipments and to gain general and operational knowledge about their role and usage electric power transmission and distribution system. We were to be made familiar with equipments like Contactor, Thermal Relay, HRC Fuse, Air Circuit Breaker (ACB), Overload Relay (OLR) MCCB, MCB, RCCB, ELCB. The basic objective of having industrial visit is for studying various aspects related with different Industrial Units. The different techniques and methods being used in industries are studied in order to gain wide outlook concerning Industrial activities and facilities for that Purpose. With an aim to go beyond books and academics, Industrial Visit provides a practical Knowledge on the world of work.

    Industrial Visit to L&T Switchgear Training Centre gave student a clear Insight, Observation and Importance of LV Switchgear Equipments in the Power System. Both batches were successfully able to grasp practical knowledge on how exactly a LV Switchgear functions. They were successfully able to understand the working of all the mentioned equipment, everything from how they are installed, how they are monitored and maintained.

    The hands-on training program on Electrical machines was organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering and it commenced at 10:00 a.m. on 18th March, 2023 in the Machine Lab, PHCET. Prof. Supriya Shigwan introduced the speaker Mr. R. D. More, M.E. in Electrical Engineering having vast experience in the field. The Head of the Department, Ms. Pranita Chavan felicitated the speaker.

    The speaker discussed fundamental concepts of electric machines together with several solved examples. He explained speed control techniques , need of starter and applications of different types of machines so that an appropriate selection of a machine can be made for a given application. He also discussed the operation , speed torque characteristics and control procedure for different types of motor. He discussed basic principles, modeling, and operating characteristics of various types of conventional DC and AC machines, special purpose machines, and transformers. He explained the advantages of BLDC motors and PMSM over induction motor & DC motors.

    The session concluded with a question answer session. There were around 9 participants for the Electrical machine workshop. A feedback session was taken from all the participants.

    PCB Designing is one of the most emerging fields in Electronics in today’s era. For the students of Electrical this is a good field to start their career. Ms. Supriya Shigwan explained the technical aspects of PCB and related process after which Ms. Ronita Pawn practically demonstrated various steps involved in PCB etching technology. They distributed all the necessary materials, chemicals and electronic components to the students required to design a PCB and to complete a basic Project. They guided and helped the students in the entire process. The workshop was aimed to provide knowledge about simulation tools to test electronics & electrical circuits in software environments, PCB design software named DIPTRACE & to make physical PCB at home so that any student can make a project on his own.

    • Component Footprint Design
    • Integrated Library Design
    • PCB Design & Routing
    • Etching of PCB
    • Soldering of Components on PCB

    Total 35 students and 7 faculties have participated in the workshop. All the students responded that they have learned and had hands-on experience in designing a PCB. The hands on session was really helpful in order to understand simulations practically They were very excited about participating in this workshop and requested for more workshops in a similar way so that they can simultaneously gain practical knowledge.

    To Train Tech-Minded Students of Information Technology Department has Successfully Conducted 2 Days Hands on Workshop on “IoT in Wireless Technology”. The Event was conducted on 15th and 16th March, 2023 in the Computer Centre at Lab Between 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On This Momentous Occasion, It was Our Proud Privilege That We Were Blessed With Shubham Thakur Working as a Research Associate and PCB Incharge at PHCET (Certified PCB Design Engineer & Analyst) as a Speaker.

    The Event Began with The Formal Introduction of Guest Speaker. To Express Our Affection and Reverence Towards Our Guest. IT Department HOD Dr. Divya Chirayil and ISTE Cocordinator Prof. Siddhesh Khanvilkar Felicitate Guest with Bouquet.

    The Workshop starts with an Introduction to IoT, including Its Definition, History, and Applications. Students Learn About The Different Types of Iot Devices and How They are Connected to The Internet. They Also Learn About The Different Iot Platforms.

About 70 Student of Third Year Information Technology Department Willingly Participated in This Event to Make This Event Successful.

Our objective for organizing this event was to let the students explore their knowledge and represent their unique ideas of all engineering branches.     The event started by an introduction speech and felicitation of the judges for the program. It was continued by the introduction by the speaker AMRITA T PATEL. She gave the students vast knowledge about UI/UX world. Speaker highlighted the growing opportunities in this field. She taught students how to use different UI/UX tools and how to create a login page. It was an interesting activity. Than the best 3 winners were selected by our speaker and they were awarded by certificates. All participants were very enthusiastic. An amazing day came to an end, and all the students returned with new ideas and great joy.

    The objectives of the workshop were to enable the participants to apply the email etiquettes while sending the official letters and to achieve clarity and successful communication.

    Prof. Poonam Patil, Applied Sciences and Humanities enlightened the students to a two hour enlightening Session on “Email Writing and Etiquette”. Prof. Poonam took the participants through a series of slides and PowerPoint presentations, lectures and discussions to share the precise and methods of email writing, the basic traits of business letters, vocabulary, greeting salutations and conclusions. She demonstrated the techniques to write an effective mail by showcasing the fact that writing emails is not as easy as it may appear and thus one must follow dos and don’ts of email writing.

    She also commented on the language that must be excluded in e-mail communications and how emails must precise, short, brief from the subject line to the greeting and the signing off in an email. It was a highly interactive and participative workshop.

    At the end of the session students asked questioned to clear their doubts. There were 85 participants in the workshop and feedback was collected from all the participants.

    The Developers Mela event held on 10th of March at Pillai Hoc College was a huge success. The event was organized to bring together developers, programmers, and software engineers. The Event was attended by faculty and 300+ students from all the technical as well as non-technical branches.

    The event was conducted in two halves; the first half was all about technical learnings, which covers the topic of – Flutter, Firebase and Angular.

    The Flutter session covered the basics of building mobile apps using the Flutter framework, including widgets, layout, and navigation.

    The Firebase session focused on how to build real-time applications using the Firebase platform, including authentication, database, and storage. The Flutter Extended session covered advanced topics such as animation, state management, and debugging along with connectivity using firebase. Ms. Komal & Ms. Prachi took this sessions on another level. The following was continued by Khushnuma bringing on Single Page Applications using Angular. All web enthusiast and Flutter Devs were really into it, they also received refreshments for the same.

    The event had a vibrant and energetic atmosphere with attendees engaged in discussions and sharing ideas with one another. Apart from technical learnings, attendees also participated in various activities and contests organized by the Team. The event was sponsored by Traveling- A Tours and Travels sponsor.

    The second half was started with Saraswati Vandana and lightning the lamp by our Principal Dr. J. W. Bakal Sir, event had fun games like Box Cricket, Test Your Shot, Rapid Cup Relay, Dumb Charades, XO Cups and Badminton. These games provided an opportunity for attendees to unwind and connect with each other in a casual setting, which was later followed by a closing ceremony where the organizers thanked the attendees, faculties, sponsors, and partners for making the event a grand success.

    Overall, the Developers Mela event was a great success. It provided a platform for developers to connect, learn and grow in their careers. The event was well-organized, and the sessions were informative and engaging, making it a valuable experience for all attendees. The inclusion of fun games like box cricket and badminton added to the overall enjoyment of the event.

    The objectives of the seminar were to enable the participants to understand the concept of “Green Energy”. Dr Avinash Gatade, Applied Sciences and Humanities enlightened the students to a one-hour enlightening session on “Green Energy”

    Green Chemistry is an approach to designing chemical products and processes that aim to minimize or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances. It is a sustainable approach to chemistry that considers the environmental impact of chemical products and processes at every stage, from raw materials to disposal.

    The principles of Green Chemistry include the use of renewable feedstocks, the design of safer chemicals and processes, the reduction or elimination of hazardous waste, and the minimization of energy use. By adopting these principles, chemists can create products and processes that are not only more sustainable but also more economically viable.

    Overall, Green Chemistry is a crucial aspect of sustainable development, and its adoption by the chemical industry is essential for creating a more sustainable and equitable world.
