    Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology, Department of Computer Engineering organized Seminar on “Soft Skills for Interviews and Business Communication” for third year and final year computer engineering students on 9th March, 2023. This seminar is designed to help the students understand the importance of soft skills in the interview process. We all know that technical skills are critical to get the job done, but what differentiates candidates and helps them stand out in the crowd are their soft skills. Employers value soft skills such as communication, interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and emotional intelligence. These skills are essential for success in any workplace, and they play a crucial role in determining whether you get hired or not.

    The overall goal of this seminar was to introduce participants about the seminar will help you in improving your soft skills and business communication and take your job search and preparations to the next level.

    The seminar was well attended by the third year students. We received a good response from the audience and also they gave very good feedback. All the concepts were explained clearly and understandably.     For First Year students on 8th – 9th March, 2023 in Conclave – I & II

    As per the academic performances of students in SEM-I, Dr. Vashistha, Professor and Head, ASH Department conducted a Seminar on “Corrective Measures and Future Planning” for all FE students on 8th and 9th March, 2023. He provides some general corrective measures that can help students improve their study habits and performance. However, it’s important to keep in mind that each student’s situation and needs may vary, and it’s best to tailor these measures to their specific circumstances.

    Here are some suggestions:

    1. Set specific, achievable goals: Encourage students to set specific, achievable goals for themselves. These goals can be short-term or long-term, and should be measurable and realistic. By having clear goals in mind, students can focus their efforts and stay motivated.
    2. Create a Study Schedule: Help students create a study schedule that balances their academic workload with their other commitments. This schedule should include time for studying, reviewing, and completing assignments, as well as breaks and leisure activities.
    3. Improve Time Management: Teach students time management techniques such as prioritizing tasks, breaking down large projects into smaller tasks and avoiding procrastination. Encourage them to use tools such as calendars, planners, or apps to help them stay on track.
    4. Develop Effective Study Habits: Help students develop effective study habits such as active reading, note-taking, and summarizing key concepts. Encourage them to use various resources such as textbooks, online resources, and study groups to enhance their understanding.
    5. Seek help when needed: Encourage students to seek help when they are struggling with a particular subject or assignment. This can include talking to teachers, seeking tutoring or academic support services, or working with classmates to clarify concepts.
    6. Stay Organized: Teach students to stay organized by keeping track of assignments, deadlines, and important dates. Encourage them to use tools such as folders, binders, or digital tools to keep their materials organized.
    7. Develop a Positive Attitude: Help students develop a positive attitude towards learning and academic challenges. Encourage them to focus on their strengths and to view setbacks as opportunities for growth and learning.

    By implementing these corrective measures, students can develop good study habits and improve their academic performance.

    For First Year students on 8th March, 2023 in Conclave – II

    The objectives of the workshop were to enable the participants to understand the Essential of calculus.

    Prof. Shital Rithe, Applied Sciences and Humanities enlightened the students to a one hour enlightening Session on “Essential of Calculus”. Prof. Shital took the participants through a series of slides and PowerPoint presentations of essential applications of calculus and some examples to explain how calculus plays an important role in first year engineering studies. Calculus provides engineers with a powerful toolset for modeling, analysing, and optimizing complex physical systems. Calculus is the most important branch of mathematics that deals with continuous change. The two major concepts that calculus is based on are derivatives and integrals. She discussed the important formulas of differentiation and integration required to solve problems in Engineering Mathematics II.

    She also explained the students how calculus is used to solve the problems in engineering related to area, volume and mass. For example, engineers use calculus to calculate area under a curve, which is important for finding the total volume of a shape. It was a highly interactive and participative workshop.

    At the end of the session students questioned to clear their doubts. There were 80 participants in the workshop and feedback was collected from all the participants.

    As per current environmental issues, climate change and wellbeing of the student’s Principal Sir Dr. J. W Bakal and Dr. Vashistha, Professor and Head, ASH department conducted a Seminar on “Science of happiness and wellbeing” for all FE students on 8th March, 2023. The science of happiness and well-being is a multidisciplinary field that aims to understand the factors that contribute to human happiness and well-being, and to develop interventions that can promote them. There is growing interest in this field, as increasing evidence suggests that happiness and well-being are not only important for individual health and happiness, but also for social and economic well-being.

    Research in this field draws on a range of disciplines, including psychology, neuroscience, sociology, and economics. Some of the key findings from this research include:

    1. Happiness is not just about material wealth or success. Research suggests that factors such as social relationships, purpose and meaning, and positive emotions are important predictors of happiness.
    2. Happiness is not a fixed trait. While genetics and life circumstances can influence happiness levels, research suggests that happiness can be cultivated through intentional practices such as gratitude, kindness, and mindfulness.
    3. Well-being is a multidimensional construct. While happiness is an important component of well-being, it is not the only one. Other components of well-being include physical health, social connectedness, and a sense of purpose and meaning.
    4. Interventions can promote happiness and well-being. There are a range of interventions that have been shown to promote happiness and well-being, including mindfulness meditation, positive psychology interventions, and social support programs.

    Overall, the science of happiness and well-being is an exciting and rapidly evolving field, with important implications for individuals, communities, and society as a whole

  • Session on “Personal Growth through Reflective Practices”

    Session on “Personal Growth through Reflective Practices”

    For First Year students on 8th March, 2023 in Conclave – I

    Prof. Suma Lalit, from Applied Sciences and Humanities, introduced students to the reflective practices for personal and professional growth. The one hour session enable the students to imbibe and self-examine one’s own action. It helped students to introspect their attitude, emotional intelligence and decisions after the event have occurred in order to gain a deeper understanding of the potential for future improvements. This method of professional development is especially crucial for workplace and it enhances ability to understand customers’ emotions and intentions.

    Prof. Suma further highlighted the Reflective practice technique that incorporated deeper understanding of the method of looking back to the events and breaking them down to the smallest details in order to gain a better understanding and, therefore, experience. She explained how change of habits that comes with the adoption of reflective practice gives a person a chance to improve other aspects of his or her life.

    The session was informative and interactive with series of example reflected from real life events. There were total 85 participants attended the session. Feedback was collected at the end of the session.

This hands-on workshop conducted by our faculty member Mr. Rahul Kapse. He has given the knowledge about how to design the UML for projects. Sir has covered all UML diagrams. This workshop was conducted in the B404 lab.

This hands-on workshop conducted by Head of Department Ms. Rohini madam. The main objective behind conducting this workshop is to encourage students to write papers and report and so this software helps students to write a paper with fewer effort. This workshop was conducted in the B404 lab.

    Women’s Development Cell (WDC), Pillai HOC College of Engineering & Technology, Rasayani has organized one day Picnic to ND Studio, Karjat on the occasion of International Women’s Day on 6th March, 2023. The objective of Picnic is to get break from regular academic and work. Also to refresh their minds and to make memories to cherish in the future. It was also an exercise to bring unity among all the faculties.

    ND Studio is a Theme Park that Celebrates Indian Films, Artists and Film Fans. Spread in 43 Acres, it’s got a range of entertaining attractions for that will enthral across ages. It has all films related themes like BOX OFFICE, Town square, Retro Cafe, Sheesh Mahal, Chor Bazaar, Palaces, etc. Various Bollywood movies and TV serials are also shot over here. The faculties explore the studio and learn about the behind-the-scenes of movie-making. The guide gave an overview of the studio’s history and its significance in Indian cinema. Faculties clicked pictures and took tour of the studio’s various sets, including a replica of a palace, a village, and a modern apartment. The sets were incredibly detailed, and it was fascinating to see the amount of work that went into creating the perfect setting for each movie.

    The tour ended with an excitement and joy for all the female faculties and created a memorable experience to cherish. The faculties thoroughly enjoyed their day at ND Film Studio. All expressed their desire to revisit the place again.

    The objectives of the workshop were to identify how conic sections are formed and student will able to sketch these graphs on a rectangular coordinate plane.

    Prof. Vijaya Shelke, Applied Sciences and Humanities conducted a one-hour session on “To Know The Basic of Maths”. Prof. Vijaya took the students through lecture and demonstration method to share the different sections of cone like, a straight line and a pair of intersecting lines as a degenerate case of conic section, standard equation of a Circle, Parabola, Ellipse, Hyperbola and their simple properties.

    She also discussed on the procedure for tracing curves in Cartesian and Polar coordinates. It was a highly interactive workshop.

    At the end of the session students asked questioned to clear their doubts. There were 90 students in the workshop and feedback was collected from all the participants.

    A Hands-on Workshop on “Arduino Programming” was conducted by Prof. Upendra D. Patil, Assistant Professor of Department of Electronics and Computer Science, PHCET under IETE Students forum, one of the leading Professional Society in India on 6th March, 2023 for second year engineering students of Electronics and Computer Science department.

    Over the years Arduino has been the brain of thousands of projects, from everyday objects to complex scientific instruments. A worldwide community of makers – students, hobbyists, artists, programmers and professionals – has gathered around this open-source platform, their contributions have added up to an incredible amount of accessible knowledge that can be of great help to novices and experts alike. Arduino has been used in thousands of different projects and applications. The Arduino software is easy-to-use for beginners, yet flexible enough for advanced users. It runs on Mac, Windows and Linux. Teachers and students use it to build low cost scientific instruments, to prove chemistry and physics principles, or to get started with programming and robotics. Arduino boards are relatively inexpensive compared to other microcontroller platforms. Hence Arduino board can be used in embedded systems design for prototyping microcontroller based systems to save time and money.

    The event started with “National Anthem” at 10:30 a.m. This workshop was delivered by Prof. Upendra Patil. Prof. Mithun Nair and Prof. Shashikant Renushe coordinated hands-on-session for batch wise group of students.
