    Seminar on “Microsoft Excel-Learning Session”

Title of Seminar Microsoft Excel-Learning Session
Theme Developing the Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
    Schedule Date: 2nd February, 2018
    Time: 2:15 to 3:30 p.m.
Venue: Seminar Hall (3rd Floor, Engg.)
    Target Audience B.E. Automobile Students
Speaker Profile Expert: Prof. TRB Sanjai Kumar
    Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department

A Seminar on “Microsoft Excel Learning” was conducted for B.E. Automobile and Mechanical Students by Mr. TRB Sanjai Kumar, Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department. Microsoft Excel is considered the industry standard piece of software in data analysis. Microsoft’s spreadsheet program also happens to be one of the most preferred software by investment bankers and -financial analyst in data processing, financial modeling and presentation.

In this seminar Sir explored the concepts of spreadsheets, entering data and becoming comfortable with the user interface. He also introduced many tools which helps to create and use spreadsheets productively as well as format elements of spreadsheet to improve the presentation of data.

Sir have a explained the Goal Seek Excel function (What-if-Analysis) which is a method of solving for a desired output by changing an assumption that drives it.

He also introduced the concepts and terminology associated with formulas and demonstrates how to create and edit, copy and paste and how to check for errors in formulas. Functions are inbuilt formulas that save you time by allowing you to choose one that sites your needs rather than having to create a complex formula from scratch.

  • Faculty Development Programme on “Structural Analysis”

Faculty Development Programme on “Structural Analysis”

Structural Analysis is major subject of civil engineering that evaluates the different loads on structures and their effects. Structural analysis employs the fields of applied mechanics, materials science and applied mathematics to compute a structure’s deformations, internal forces, stresses, support reactions, accelerations and stability. The results of the analysis are used to verify a structure’s fitness for use. Structural analysis is thus a key part of the engineering design of structures.

    Civil Engineering

    Course Outcomes:

Analyze structures to find out the internal forces such as axial force, shear force, bending moment, twisting moments, etc.

Evaluate the displacements / deflections in beams and frames under the action of loads. They will be able to obtain the response of the beams under the action of moving loads.

Analyze the structures such as arches and suspension bridges and study the behaviour of eccentrically loaded columns. Analyze the section with respect to unsymmetrical bending and shear centre.
