    Event Objective :
    To study the process of batching, mixing, transportation, and quality control of concrete in an RMC plant.
    To observe storage of cement, aggregates, admixtures, batching plant components, transit mixers, and testing facilities.
    To connect classroom concepts such as mix design, water-cement ratio, workability, and quality control tests with real field practices.
    Event Outcome :
    Describe the step-by-step procedure from raw material storage to dispatch of concrete.
    Recognize silos, conveyor belts, weigh batchers, mixers, control panels, and transit mixers.
    Gain knowledge about slump test, cube casting, batching accuracy, and importance of standard practices as per relevant codes (e.g., IS standards).
    Description of Event:

    The Department of Civil Engineering conducted a site visit to Navdeep Construction Company RMC, Turbhe on 27th January 2025 for the students of Second Year (SE) and First Year (FE) Engineering.

    A total of 52 SE Civil students and 21 FE students participated in the visit. The activity was conducted as part of the academic curriculum for SE Civil students studying Building Materials and Concrete Technology (BMCT) and FE students studying Elements of Civil Engineering. The primary objective of the visit was to provide practical exposure to the working of a Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) plant and to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and field practices.

    The session was guided by Mr. Sanjeev Raje, Vice President – Technical, who explained the overall functioning of the RMC plant in detail. He described the complete process of concrete production, beginning with the storage of raw materials such as cement in silos, aggregates in separate bins, and admixtures in tanks, followed by automated batching, mixing, and transportation through transit mixers to construction sites.

    Students observed the operation of the computerized batching plant, including weigh batchers, conveyor belts, mixers, and control systems. The importance of maintaining the correct water-cement ratio, proper mix design, and the role of admixtures in improving workability and strength were clearly explained.

    Special emphasis was given to the quality control measures adopted at the plant. Students witnessed practical demonstrations of slump testing for workability and cube casting for compressive strength testing. The significance of following relevant IS standards and ensuring accuracy in batching for achieving durable and high-quality concrete was highlighted.

    For SE Civil students, the visit strengthened their understanding of concrete production, mix design, and quality assurance as part of the BMCT subject. For FE students, it provided foundational knowledge about construction materials and modern construction practices under the Elements of Civil Engineering subject.

    Overall, the site visit was highly informative and beneficial, offering valuable industrial exposure and enhancing students’ practical learning experience. The visit was successfully conducted under the coordination of Ms. Gayatri Pathak, Faculty Coordinator, Civil Engineering Department.

    Event Description:

    A Seminar on “Research, Innovation and Academic Collaboration Opportunity in Abroad” was conducted on November 28th, 2024 at Conclave 2.
    The session was attended by 56 enthusiastic students (UG and PG) and faculty members from the department The seminar aimed to broaden participants’ awareness about global academic pathways and encourage them to explore international learning environments.

    The seminar was delivered by Dr. Tarendra Lakhankar, Senior Scientist & Professor, NOAA-CREST Institute, City University of New York, USA.
    Dr. Lakhankar provided an in-depth overview of international research ecosystems and the role of innovation in solving global challenges. He explained various avenues for students to engage in research internships, joint academic programs, exchange opportunities, funded research projects, and higher education prospects in reputed foreign universities.

    During the session, Dr. Lakhankar highlighted real-world examples of successful international collaborations and discussed how multidisciplinary research contributes to technological development. He also guided the participants on how to prepare a strong academic profile, the importance of communication and research skills, and the documentation required for applying to international universities and collaborative programs.

    The seminar concluded with an interactive Q&A session where students clarified their doubts regarding scholarships, selection criteria, application timelines, and opportunities available through global institutions. The event proved highly informative and motivating for students aspiring to pursue higher studies and international research exposure.

    ND’s Rajlakshmi is a project by ND Infraprojects Owned by Mr. Nikhil Narendra Dawale & designed by Ar. Nitesh Narendra Dawale. The apartment project consists of 1BHK and 2 BHK flats and is currently under construction. The Building is Stilt+4 Storey, and approx. Construction area is 14000 sq.ft., Plot area- 582 sq.mt. ,Red brick construction, 1.5×1.5 m lift shaft, 5 units per floor, M25 concrete grade is used, Fe500 TMT steel is used, Brick Manufacturing Unit is placed at Vayal, Lodhivali having capacity of manufacturing 3000 bricks/day.

    Event Objective : To promote voluntary blood donation and create awareness about its importance in saving lives, while encouraging students and staff to actively participate in social responsibility initiatives.

    its annual social service and community welfare activities. The camp was conducted under the guidance of the NSS Programme Officer, with active participation from NSS volunteers, students, teaching & non-teaching staff members.

    The primary objective of the camp was to promote voluntary blood donation and create awareness about its importance in saving lives. The initiative encouraged a sense of social responsibility among students and supported healthcare institutions in meeting the constant demand for safe blood supply.

    The camp commenced at around 9:00 a.m. and continued until 4:00 p.m. Proper arrangements were made for registration, medical screening, blood collection, and post- donation care. NSS volunteers assisted in coordinating the event, guiding donors, and maintaining discipline, while medical professionals ensured donor safety through necessary
    health check-ups.

    A total of 140 blood bags were successfully collected during the camp, reflecting strong commitment and enthusiastic participation. The Blood Donation Camp proved to be a meaningful and impactful activity, demonstrating the spirit of selfless service and humanitarian values upheld by the NSS Unit.

    Event Objective : To inspire students by highlighting the vision, values, and achievements of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and to motivate them towards innovation, discipline, and responsible nation-building.

    The NSS Unit of PHCET celebrated the birth anniversary of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam on 15 October 2025 at around 1:00 p.m. in the college library of PHCET under the theme “वाचन प्रेरणा दिन” as part of its educational and value-based initiatives. The program was conducted under the guidance of the NSS Programme Officer.

    The event aimed to promote the habit of reading among students and to highlight the importance of knowledge in personal and national development. It focused on inspiring students to follow the ideals of Dr. Kalam, especially his emphasis on education, innovation, discipline, and hard work as the foundation of success.

    Students assembled in the library where they were briefed about the significance of Vachan Prerna Din and the life and contributions of Dr. Kalam. The activities included reading sessions, sharing of inspirational thoughts, and discussions on his vision for youth empowerment and nation-building, encouraging students to adopt reading as a lifelong habit.

    The celebration was a meaningful initiative reflecting the commitment of the NSS Unit toward intellectual growth and character development. Such programs play a vital role in nurturing responsible, informed, and motivated individuals. The NSS Unit plans to continue organizing similar activities to strengthen the culture of reading and learning in the future.

    The NSS Unit of PHCET organized the celebration of Swami Vivekananda Jayanti (164th Yuva Diwas) on 8 January 2026 as part of its annual youth development and social awareness activities. A large number of NSS volunteers actively participated in the program under the guidance of the NSS Programme Officer and faculty coordinators.

    The program aimed to spread awareness about the life, teachings, and ideals of Swami Vivekananda, emphasizing the role of youth in nation-building. The event focused on encouraging values such as self-discipline, leadership, confidence, and social responsibility among students, in line with the spirit of Yuva Diwas.

    The event commenced at the college premises, where volunteers assembled on time and were briefed about the significance of Swami Vivekananda Jayanti. Activities included inspirational talks, discussions on youth empowerment, and reflections on Swami Vivekananda’s vision for a strong and ethical society. Active participation from students made the program engaging and impactful.

    Event Objective : To promote voter awareness and responsible participation in the democratic process.

    The NSS Unit of PHCET organized a Voter Awareness Program on 13 January 2026 as part of its annual civic engagement and social responsibility activities. A total of around 40 NSS volunteers actively participated in the program under the guidance of the NSS Programme Officer.

    The program aimed to create awareness among students and local residents about the importance of voting in a democratic system. It focused on educating citizens about their electoral rights, the significance of informed voting, and encouraging responsible participation in the democratic process.

    Volunteers assembled at the designated venue by 12:30 a.m., where they were briefed about the objectives of the program and key points related to voter awareness. The activities included interactive discussions, distribution of awareness material, and direct interaction with the community to highlight the role of voters in strengthening democracy. Special emphasis was given to motivating first-time voters.

    The Voter Awareness Program was a successful initiative that reflected the commitment of NSS volunteers toward civic responsibility and democratic values. Such programs play a vital role in fostering an informed and responsible society. The NSS Unit plans to continue organizing similar awareness activities to promote active citizenship in the future.

  • National Service Scheme

    National Service Scheme

    The NSS Unit of Pillai HOC College of Engineering & Technology proudly celebrated the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram” on 7th November, honoring the timeless national song written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. The event aimed to highlight the cultural and historical significance of the song, which has inspired generations during India’s freedom struggle.

    The celebration began with a brief introduction on the origin of “Vande Mataram” and its role in uniting the nation. NSS volunteers, faculty members, and students gathered to sing the national song in unison, creating an atmosphere filled with patriotism and respect.

    Speeches were delivered by the NSS Program Officer and student representatives, reflecting on the powerful message of the song and its relevance even after 150 years. A short cultural segment followed, including recitations and patriotic expressions by volunteers, emphasizing national pride and unity.

    The event concluded with a pledge to uphold the values of peace, harmony, and dedication toward the nation. The celebration successfully instilled enthusiasm and patriotic spirit among all participants, marking the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram” with dignity and pride.

    Tree Plantation Drive

    On 15th July, 2025, Pillai hoc college of engineering and technology, Rasayani successfully completed the event of Tree Plantation under the National Service Scheme(NSS) at posari Thakurwadi. Trees are the foremost source for producing the oxygen in environment, they helps to reduce the level of CO2 . As we all know that the whole world is facing the problem of global warming and to recover from such problem planting the trees is become one of the most important aspects today.

    The NSS Volunteers gathered at location informed prior, on Reporting Time. Around
    10:30 am, the Volunteers started to dig up the pits for saplings in the Posari . NSS cordinators Vikram Pawar coordinated the event .

    Along with Respected Guests, The NSS Volunteers planted Saplings, and total count went to 80. Honourable Principal Dr. Jagdish W. Bakal Guided us On Environment Protection and Appreciated the efforts of NSS. The whole Event was well planned and executed with Discipline. All were happy and experience proud after the tree plantation event was finished, because it really feels great to do positive for the nature.

    The NSS Unit of PHCET organized a Teachers’ Day celebration on 5 September 2025 as part of its annual social and educational activities. A total of around 50 NSS volunteers actively participated in the program.

    The event was organized to honor teachers on the birth anniversary of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and to acknowledge their invaluable contribution in shaping students’ academic and personal growth. The program focused on expressing gratitude, strengthening student–teacher relationships, and promoting respect for the teaching profession.

    Volunteers assembled at the venue and actively contributed to organizing cultural activities, speeches, and appreciation sessions. Students shared their experiences and expressed heartfelt thanks to their teachers, making the event meaningful and engaging.

    The Teachers’ Day program was successfully conducted and reflected the dedication of NSS volunteers toward fostering values of respect, gratitude, and education. Such activities help build a positive academic environment and encourage continued student participation in institutional and social initiatives.
