    The Department of Computer Engineering at PHCET hosted an insightful Study Abroad session conducted by Vidyalankar Institute, aimed at guiding Third Year (TE) and Final Year (BE) students through the process of securing admission to prestigious international universities.

    Representatives from Vidyalankar delivered an informative presentation covering emerging global education fields, application procedures, and essential standardized tests like GRE, TOEFL, and IELTS. They shared score expectations, preparation tips, and discussed the importance of academic performance, SOPs, LORs, and financial planning.

    Students were also introduced to country-specific admission trends and opportunities in regions such as the USA, UK, Germany, and Australia. Real-world examples and success stories were shared to motivate students and provide a clear picture of the process.

    The session concluded with an interactive Q&A where students sought guidance on university selection, scholarships, visa processes, and financial aid. Over 100 students participated enthusiastically, engaging in thoughtful discussions and gaining valuable clarity on the study abroad journey.

    The well-organized session proved highly beneficial, equipping students with the knowledge and confidence needed to pursue international education opportunities. Its success highlights the growing interest in global academic pathways among PHCET students.

    The Department of Electronics and Computer Science organized a Parent Teacher meeting on March 08, 2025, at 10.30 am for all the parents of SE, TE, and BE students. Principal Dr. J. W. Bakal and TPO Coordinator Ms. Divya Nair interacted with the parents of all the departments in the Auditorium. Dr. J. W. Bakal emphasized the importance of parental involvement in a student’s educational journey. The Training and Placement Cell provided insights into industry requirements and the placement process.

    After that, all parents proceeded to the respective departments. Dr. Mansi Subhedar, Head of ECS department welcomed all the parents and discussed the academic activities in the department, students’ involvement in these activities highlighting strengths and areas needing improvement. She also emphasised on requirements of placements and internships, acquiring required skill sets and employability skills. Parents were informed about upcoming exams, project deadlines, and internship opportunities.

    Class coordinators provided the results of IA-I, attendance and an overview of students’ academic performance.Parents actively participated in discussions and provided valuable feedback. They appreciated the efforts of faculty members. Some parents suggested guiding student on how to manage their studies to get better score in the exam. Parents also asked to display students month-wise attendance and IA results on Parents’ whatsapp group.

    The meeting concluded on a positive note and ended with a vote of thanks to all the parents.

    The objective of this meeting was that teachers and parents should come together to discuss the various issues for the performance & improvement of the students.

    The agenda of the Parents and Teachers Meeting was as follows:

    1. Discuss Internal Assessment-I results.
    2. Discuss attendance of students till mid-term.
    3. Encourage parents to motivate students to participate in Co-curricular and
      extracurricular activities.
    4. Encourage students to participate in TGMS, TPO Session and placement activities.
    5. Discussed regarding upcoming event HACK OVERFLOW 3.0.

    Contents Covered:

    Meeting started with an interaction session of parents with our beloved Principal Dr.J.W.Bakal Sir where he addressed them regarding activities which will be covered during the semester and flow of examination activities.Later the schedule was conducted by covering the activities listed in agenda by the Advisor (CAs) and respective subject incharges of the classes. Attendance and Unit Test-1 marks were shown to parents and progress of students was discussed. Dr.Rajashree Gadhave, HOD Computer Dept. Addressed the gathering and discussion on various topics such as students attendance, exam schedule, Teacher Guardian Mentoring Scheme, TPO session activities, HACKOVERFLOW 3.0, etc. with

    the parents and students. Remarkable achievements and IA-1 toppers were felicitated by the Dr.Rajashree Gadhave, HOD.109 total parents attended the meeting from SE,TE and BE . At the end of the session parents filled the Parents feedback form and survey form to express their views. Parents gave excellent feedback for the teaching learning process, accessibility of Teacher/HOD/Principal, infrastructure facilities, learning resources such as library, internet and support services like career counseling, placement etc. Parents were satisfied with the activities and teaching-learning process followed in the department.

    The Department of Information Technology held a Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) on Saturday, March 8, 2024, for the Second, Third, and Final Year students. Invitations were sent to all parents. The event commenced with a welcome speech from Principal Dr. J.W. Bakal, who discussed the academic performance of the institute.

    After the general session, parents and students of the IT Department assembled in the departmental hall, where Head of the Department, Ms. Srijita Bhattacharjee, gave a detailed presentation on student attendance, academic schedules, and performance. Class coordinators interacted individually with parents, offering personalized feedback based on each student’s progress report, which highlighted attendance records and internal test results.

    The session included a counseling segment aimed at student improvement. Parents were also asked to fill out feedback forms, providing suggestions and expressing their views about the department and the event.

    The meeting ended with a promise of continued communication and cooperation between the faculty and parents to ensure student success.

    Now a days it’s a deep requirement of develop and use of non-conventional energy over conventional sources, with virtue of that Indian Government promoting and implementing various policies for various energy sources specially for Solar Energy production. Using this available solar energy, Indian government egger to use and produce Hydrogen Energy for which it having various strategies along with the industrialists.

    Knowing this current demand it is necessary to train our engineers and to ready the force in development of our country.

    Since the speaker is very knowledgeable and experienced in the field of power generation, he cleared all doubts asked by students very nicely. He explained about the existing cycles in power generation, its installation and other requirements. The overall session was very informative which satisfied students need in the field.

    Students should understand the core principles of Generative AI, explored its applications across various industries, and gained practical experience with tools such as ChatGPT and DALL·E. Through live coding exercises, they learned how to build and evaluate basic Generative AI models. Additionally, students were informed about career paths, emerging trends, and ethical considerations in the field of AI.

    CSI PHCET successfully organized NextAI, a hands-on workshop on Generative AI, to empower students with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills in artificial intelligence. Designed for second and third-year students and tech enthusiasts, the event combined theoretical foundations with immersive learning, guiding participants through the transformative world of generative models. Esteemed speaker Ms. Saloni Jain, Angular Lead at TMFL, AI/Software Engineer, and founder of the YouTube channel Tech Runner by Saloni Jain led the session with expertise.

    Ms. Jain began her session with a comprehensive introduction to Generative AI, demystifying its core concepts and explaining how models like GPT, GANs, and VAEs function. She illustrated real-world applications, from creative content generation to solving industry challenges, emphasizing the technology’s potential to reshape sectors like healthcare, entertainment, and finance. The theoretical foundation seamlessly transitioned into a hands-on segment, where participants experimented with tools like ChatGPT and DALL-E to generate text and images.

    Ms. Jain then guided attendees through live coding exercises, demonstrating how to build a basic Generative AI model. Students gained practical insights into model architecture, training processes, and evaluating pre-existing AI systems. A key highlight was the discussion on career opportunities in AI, where Ms. Jain outlined emerging trends, ethical considerations, and pathways for aspiring professionals. She stressed the importance of continuous learning, certifications, and hands-on projects to stay competitive in the field.

    The interactive Q&A session further deepened engagement, with students raising questions about AI’s limitations, ethical dilemmas, and industry expectations. Ms. Jain’s pragmatic advice on balancing technical skills with critical thinking resonated strongly with the audience.

    On 6th March 2025, the Department of Computer Engineering at PHCET, in collaboration with Sanman Students Overseas Services, organized an enriching session on higher education opportunities in Europe. Held at the Engineering Seminar Hall, the session saw the enthusiastic participation of over 100 students.

    The guest speaker, Mr. Anil Joshi—representative of Sanman Students Overseas Services—provided a comprehensive overview of studying abroad. The session began with an introduction to top European countries known for offering high-quality education across various disciplines. Students were guided through details about reputed universities, academic programs, and eligibility criteria.

    A major highlight of the event was the discussion on financial planning. Mr. Joshi shared insights on tuition fees, living expenses, scholarships, part-time job opportunities, and average salary expectations in various European cities—helping students understand the practical side of pursuing education abroad.

    Additionally, the session covered the admission process in depth, including application procedures, necessary documents, and key deadlines. Mr. Joshi emphasized the importance of early planning and strategic preparation to improve admission prospects.

    The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students raised questions on scholarships, visa processes, and adapting to new cultures. All queries were addressed thoroughly, leaving attendees with a clear and confident outlook on their international education journey.

    Department of Information Technology under ISTE Student Chapter of Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology organized Hands On workshop on “Exploring & Unveiling Projects on Emulator & Sensor” on 6th & 7th March 2025. The two-day workshop, organized by the ISTE Club, was a power-packed event focused on emulators and sensors. The workshop aimed at providing hands-on experience to students and innovators in the field of electronics and sensor technology. Attendees had the opportunity to work on real-time projects and learn from industry experts about cutting-edge emulators and sensors.

    Projects Covered

    • LED Blinking with ESP8266EXLearned how to program the ESP8266EX (NodeMCU) to blink an LED using basic coding.
    • Touch Sensor with ESP8266EXInterfaced a touch sensor with ESP8266EX to control an LED based on touch input.
    • Moisture SensorUsed a moisture sensor to monitor soil conditions, and learned to set up automatic actions like watering when soil is dry.
    • Ultrasonic Sensor (HC-SR04)Worked with an ultrasonic sensor to measure distance and create projects like obstacle detection.

    Conclusion

    The “Exploring & Unveiling Projects on Emulator & Sensor” workshop was an enriching experience for all participants.     Event OutcomeStudent should learn a new tool of formatting as LaTeX provides a very powerful, yet easy-to-learn way of formatting documents. It offers a consistent and uniform layout. Students will be able to learn Typeset a mathematical document using LaTex. Students will be able to learn about graphics in LaTex.

    The Department of Computer Engineering organized a workshop on LaTex Designing on 4th March, 2025. Total 81 students attended the program. This hands-on workshop conducted by Prof. Jayesh Rane, Assistant Professor, ECS dept. The main objective behind conducting this workshop is to encourage students to write papers and report, and so this software helps students to write a paper with less effort. This workshop conducted in D312 lab.

    The workshop on LaTeX was organized with the goal of introducing participants to the powerful typesetting system used primarily for academic and technical writing. LaTeX is widely used by researchers, scientists, engineers, and academics to create professional-looking documents, including research papers, thesis, reports, and books.

    The session on “Career Orientation Transition from College to Industry” was organized by the Training and Placement Cell of PHCET College to provide engineering students with new trends in industry.

    In this orientation session, speaker explained about career planning and opportunities for fresher in today’s market. The speaker stress about how to set and improve self-assessment, learning research on latest trends in career, how to set career objective, learning and improve technical skills, communication skills, how to design perfect CV for jobs.

    Mr. Lathesh told students about various career opportunities like higher education in different streams and research area, jobs in latest trends like AI, Data Analyst. Data scientist, etc.

    In this session, students were very interested to listen upcoming career opportunities, overall, all the students were very satisfied from this session.

    The event aimed to guide and empower students in making informed decisions about their career paths. The speaker highlighted the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, and skills to survive in today’s competitive job market.
