    Dr. A.S. Rao is a highly experienced faculty member in the Mechanical Engineering Department at VJTI, Mumbai, with 24 years of teaching expertise. His research focuses on CAD/CAM, Automation, Additive Manufacturing, CNC, and advanced composites. He leads the M.Tech CAD/CAM & Automation program and serves as the Faculty Coordinator for the Society of Robotics and Automation. Dr. Rao has published 32 journal papers, 26 conference papers, and has guided 3 Ph.D. students. He has also played a key role in establishing state-of-the-art laboratories, including a Siemens Smart Manufacturing lab. He is also a reviewer for numerous international and national journals.

    The session covered the integration of CAD/CAM, automation, and additive manufacturing (AM) technologies, particularly focusing on FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) for investment casting, rapid tooling, and advanced composites applications. It highlighted the benefits of AM in creating complex molds and tooling more efficiently, reducing lead times and costs compared to traditional methods. The use of CNC machines in conjunction with AM for precision machining was discussed, as well as the growing role of advanced composite materials, such as carbon fiber, in producing lightweight, high-strength parts. The session also touched on the challenges of material limitations and post-processing needs, while emphasizing the future potential of these technologies in improving manufacturing processes, sustainability, and product performance across industries like aerospace, automotive, and medical devices.

He has total 20 years of experience Industrial Projects like Gas handling system, compressed air system and Waist heat recovery system for cement industry. He also gives consulting for gas distribution system specifically for hydrogen & compressed natural gas.

    On 5th October 2024. A group of 20 members (18 students and 2 faculty members) participated in this activity. The industrial visit to RenewSys India Pvt. Ltd., located in Patalganga, Khalapur, was an insightful experience aimed at understanding the functioning and operations of a solar module (Solar Panel) manufacturing facility. RenewSys is a leading manufacturer of solar PV modules, encapsulants, and back sheets, with a strong focus on quality and sustainability. The visit provided an in-depth view of the solar module production process and RenewSys’ role in the renewable energy sector.

    Objectives of the Visit:
    The main objectives of the visit were:

    1. To understand the process of solar PV module manufacturing.
    2. To learn about the quality control mechanisms at different stages of production.
    3. To explore how RenewSys contributes to sustainable energy solutions.
    4. To interact with industry experts and gain practical insights into renewable energy technology.

    Learning Outcomes:

    1. Understanding the Solar Module Manufacturing Process: We gained a comprehensive understanding of how solar modules are produced, from raw materials to the final product. The process involves several stages, each critical to ensuring the efficiency and durability of the modules.
    2. Quality Control and Assurance: The visit highlighted the importance of stringent quality control measures in ensuring that solar modules meet international standards. This was particularly evident in the testing phase where RenewSys implements advanced techniques to guarantee product reliability.
    3. Industry Insight: Interaction with the professionals provided us with insights into the operational challenges, innovations, and the future trajectory of the renewable energy industry in India and globally.

    First safety introduction is conducted by site safety in charge and then students were taken to the site. The students were explained about the reinforcement, shuttering, casting methods, hydraulic jacking in Post tension on the site.

    Conclusions:

    This site had an efficient and versatile attribute, due to which it was an enormously fruitful experience to visit the Targhar site. 3. It was very helpful in understanding the methods, quality of work, Equipments, Hydraulic Jacking, shuttering, material at site.

    IIG is engaged in various research works through different types of Geophysical methods; IIG runs total twelve magnetic observatories spanning east-west and north-south region of our country, which ultimately help in understanding the interior structure of earth, plate tectonics, earthquakes and different types of earthquake waves, identifying regions with ground water potential, and Landslides etc.

    Most of their activities had been presented nicely to the students through posters, models, Laboratory visits and presentations. Students were explained about the basics of geomagnetism, space science, seismology and geophysics through posters and presentations. The students got an opportunity to see different experimental set up, state of arts Laboratories.

    The visit has exposed the students in understanding the basics of geomagnetism, space science, seismology and geophysics. They could also learn the interior structure of earth, concept of magnetic poles and pole reversals, various geophysical methods, plate tectonics, identifying regions with ground water potential and Landslides etc.

    The Parents-Teachers Meeting (PTM) for the odd semester of A.Y. 2024-25, held on 28th September, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., was organized for the Computer Engineering Department. The main agenda of the meeting was to provide a common platform, where teachers and parents come together to discuss the various issues for the performance improvement of the students. The session began with an interaction session of parents with our beloved Principal Dr. J. W. Bakal Sir where he addressed them regarding activities which will be covered during the academic year and examination activities. Ms.Divya Nair ,Training & Placement Officer has guided third year students regarding the process of placement which will be carried out in the next year and suggested students to start with the preparation for aptitude tests. Exam related information is provided by Exam Cell Incharge, Amar Jadhav. Dr. Rajashree Gadhave, Head of Computer Engineering addressed the gathering and informed about the accreditation in NAAC second cycle with A+ Grade also highlighted student achievements and shared department updates. She also discussed various topics such as student’s attendance, exam schedule, Teacher Guardian Mentoring Scheme, TPO session activities, etc. was done. Club coordinators Ms. Ekta U and Ms. Srijita B discussed club activities, while Department TPO Ms. Snehal S. outlined placement requirements. Mr. Kapse, TGMS Coordinator, explained the TGMS system.

    Later the schedule was conducted by covering the activities listed in agenda by the Class Advisor (CAs) and respective subject incharges of the classes. Attendance and Unit Test-1 marks were shown to parents and progress of students was discussed .125 total number of parents attended the meeting from SE, TE and BE. At the end of the session parents filled the Parent’s feedback form and survey form to express their views. Parents gave excellent feedback for the teaching learning process, accessibility of Teacher/HOD/Principal, infrastructure facilities, learning resources such as library, internet and support services like career counselling, placement etc. Parents were satisfied with the activities and teaching-learning process followed in the department.

    The Department of Electronics and Computer Science organized a Parent Teacher meeting on 28th September, 2024, at 10.15 for all the parents of SE, TE, and BE students. Principal Dr. J. W. Bakal and TPO Coordinator Ms. Divya Nair interacted with the parents of all the departments in CONCLAVE-II. Ms. Divya Nair gave a short overview of the placements during the last academic years and the future plans for improving them. After that, all parents proceeded to the respective departments. Dr. Mansi Subhedar, Head of ECS department welcomed all the parents and furnished them with all the academic activities in the department. She also discussed the academic performance of the students, project work, behavioral aspects, and their overall involvement in the department. Class Coordinators showed the attendance and internal assessment records of their respective classes to the parents. Parents also asked their doubts and discussed students’ issues with faculty. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to all the parents.
