On 15th October 2024, a session on Interview Techniques was conducted for BE Mechanical students at the 3rd Floor Seminar Hall. The session aimed to prepare students for future job interviews, with a particular focus on HR interview questions. The guest speaker for the session was Ms. Suma Lalit, Communication Skills faculty with significant experience in interview coaching.

Ms. Suma Lalit began the session by introducing the concept of interviews and their importance in securing job placements. She emphasized the significance of proper preparation, confidence, and professional behavior in making a lasting impression.
Frequently Asked HR Interview Questions:
The majority of the session focused on the most common HR interview questions that candidates face during interviews. Ms. Suma provided valuable insights on how to answer these questions effectively. Some of the frequently asked questions discussed were:
“Tell me about yourself.”
“Why do you want to work with our company?”
“What are your strengths and weaknesses?”
“Where do you see yourself in five years?”
“Why should we hire you?”
“Tell us about a time when you faced a challenge and how you overcame it.”
Ms. Suma provided detailed guidance on structuring responses to these questions, stressing the importance of being honest, concise, and confident while highlighting key skills and experiences.
Techniques for Successful Interviewing:
Ms. Suma stressed the importance of non-verbal communication during interviews. This included maintaining eye contact, posture, and dressing professionally. She also discussed the importance of research on the company and role before attending the interview. Additionally, Ms. Suma shared strategies for handling tricky or unexpected questions, advising students to remain calm and composed while providing clear, well-thought-out answers.
The session ended at 4.30 with doubt clearing interaction with the students by the speaker.
