Department of Information Technology organized one day Webinar on “IPR and Patenting”. The main objective of the webinar is to develop interest for faculties in patenting their original work done. 100 participants all over India attended the online session conducted on the platform of Google Meet.

Details of Resource Person: Dr. Rajesh H. Kulkarni is Director of Smt Indira Gandhi College of Engineering. Prior to SIGCE he played various roles such as Asst. Director, Vice Principal, Accreditation coordinator, HOD of Computer Engineering and ME Coordinator in his previous organizations. In a career spanning more than 23 years he authored four books, published research papers in SCOPUS/SCI indexed Journals and published six Patents. He has research interest in HCI, Software Engineering, Data Sciences, Machine Intelligence and IOT.

The webinar gave insights of Patenting and various procedures for granting patents, requirements placed on the patentee, and the extent of the exclusive rights of Intellectual property claim according to National laws and International Agreements. The significance of having IPR for the owner and the legal rights to exclude others from making, using, selling and importing an invention was focussed. Various patenting forms and various methods to apply patents was also discussed. Session was an interactive session in the end and solved all the queries from the participants regarding Patenting issues.
