The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of PHCET organised a Seminar on “Patent Writing” dated Wednesday, 18th August, 2021. The main objective of the seminar was to encourage faculty members to think about innovative ideas and filing patents. Dr. B. K. Sarkar was the expert for the session. Deputy CEO of Pillai HOCL Educational Campus, Dr. Lata Menon welcomed Dr. B. K. Sarkar.
Dr. B. K. Sarkar explained copyrights, trademarks, and patents. He demystified various sample patents for a better understanding of how simple innovation ideas can lead to patents. Various research areas and the latest patens in these areas, he shared with the audience during his session. He explained the process of patent filling. He clarified points such as how to write a patent, the design of a product, the prototype of the proposed product, patent review, fee, etc. during the seminar. The session ended with an interactive question-and-answer session. All the queries asked by the faculty members were cleared by the speaker. It was a very insightful and interesting session. The session was concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. G. V. Patil, IQAC member and Head of Mechanical Engineering.
