Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched by the Government of India to solve the problems of sanitation and waste management in India by ensuring hygiene across the country. The main purpose of this programme was to create awareness among the students regarding Cleanliness and its benefits. Therefore to create awareness, The Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology in association with The Rotract Club of Patalganga conducted a rally on Swachh Bharat on 2nd October, 2019. The cleanliness awareness campaign led by 20 NSS volunteers peaked with a rally around town. Holding banners and placards on the theme “Clean India, Happy and Healthy India”, the volunteers began the rally from Janta Vidyalaya School Mohopada, Gram Panchayat Wasambe (Mohopada) via the main road. The rally took nearly an hour.

NSS Volunteers were heard shouting slogans in English, Hindi and Garo like, “no more plastic” and “Gandhi ji ka tha yahi irada, swachh ho desh hamara” and “Sabhi rogo ki bs ek dawai, ghar me rakho saaf – safai”. Onlookers in crowded areas along the route were taken surprise at the enthusiasm of the student community.
