The NSS Unit of Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology (PHCET) organized an educational and social awareness field visit to Raigad Fort on Sunday, 2nd November 2025. The visit aimed to enhance students’ understanding of India’s rich historical heritage and to promote the spirit of teamwork, discipline, and national pride among volunteers.
NSS volunteers and faculty co-coordinators participated in the visit. The journey began early in the morning from the college campus, filled with enthusiasm and curiosity. Upon reaching Raigad, the volunteers explored the fort’s magnificent architecture, including the Maha Darwaza, Rani Mahal, Jagdishwar Temple, and the Samadhi of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Through this experience, students gained valuable insights into the Maratha Empire’s legacy and the visionary leadership of Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
The visit also emphasized the importance of preserving historical monuments and maintaining cleanliness at tourist sites. Volunteers took part in a brief cleanliness drive around the fort premises, spreading awareness among visitors about environmental responsibility and civic sense.
Overall, the field visit to Raigad Fort was a memorable and educational experience that fostered a deeper appreciation for India’s glorious past while reinforcing the values of service, discipline, and patriotism among NSS volunteers.
