One Day National Workshop on Advances in Finite Element Methods was conducted on Saturday, 11th April, 2015 at PHCET, Rasayani organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering. The workshop was organised under the leadership and guidance of our honourable patrons.

A total of 89 delegates participated in the workshop. The function was inaugurated by honourable Lata Menon Madam, Dy. CEO, Rasayani Campus. Valedictory speech was delivered by Prof. S. N. Kadam, HOD of Mechanical Department. All the sessions were over by 17:00 hrs.

The lectures comprised of

  • Mr. Dattatraya Parle who started his speech with introduction to Finite Element methods and then subsequently spoke about the mathematical formulations necessary for proper interpretation of results obtained from FEM. He also discussed about the live industrial problems carried out by him as a senior consultant to Infosys.
  • Dr. Uday Pise continued with the momentum of earlier speaker and took the discussion to higher level of difficulty he also discussed the practical experiences and projects carried out by him.
  • Mr. Punit Arora spoke about the latest trends in FEM and how they can be applied to pressure vessel design and design of plates and shells. He introduced the mathematical complexities in such design work using FEM. Current projects carried out by him were also discussed.
  • Dr. A. K. Dureja speech was a well coordinated effort between him and previous speaker, to reach the next level of complexity. He discussed about he projects carried by him and his team in BARC and also gave an insight to the student participants regarding the scope of this topic in current industrial scenario.
