A green building is one which uses less water, optimizes energy efficiency, conserves natural resources, generates less waste and provides healthier spaces for occupants, as compared to a conventional building. In order to accelerate a step towards the goal of sustainability, IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) students Chapter was virtually inaugurated by Department of Civil Engineering on 26th June, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. The program was followed by the Symposium on Green Building wherein total 232 participants from Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Arunachal Pradesh, Telangana, Delhi, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujrat actively participated to explore the concept Green Building.

Welcome address was proposed by Dr. Madhumita Chatterjee, Principal, Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology, Rasayani and she emphasized the urge of the concept to achieve the goal of sustainability. Student chapter comprises of president, vice president, Secretary and committee members was virtually inaugurated by Mr. Sandeep Shikre, Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), IGBC Mumbai Chapter, President & CEO SSA Architects. Different modules like Evaluation parameters, Green building certifications, case studies of green building in India were covered in the symbiosis. The session concluded with an interactive session between the resource persons and the participants in which the queries of the participants were addressed satisfactorily.
