The NSS Unit of PHCET organized a Disaster Management Awareness Program on 27 January 2026 during the NSS camp to educate students as well as villagers about disaster preparedness and emergency response. Around 50 NSS volunteers actively participated in the session under the guidance of the NSS Programme Officer. The session was conducted by Dr. Karthik Nagarajan.

The program aimed to create awareness about different types of disasters, promote preparedness, and educate participants on safety measures and basic emergency response to minimize loss of life and property. It focused on understanding disaster risks, evacuation procedures, and the importance of staying calm during emergencies.

Volunteers assembled at the NSS camp venue, where they were briefed about the objectives of the program. Dr. Karthik Nagarajan conducted an interactive session covering disaster preparedness, do’s and don’ts during emergencies, and basic first-response techniques. Participants actively engaged in discussions and gained practical knowledge on handling disaster situations effectively.

The Disaster Management Program was a successful initiative that reflected the commitment of NSS volunteers toward community safety and awareness. Such programs play a vital role in building a prepared and responsible society. The NSS Unit plans to continue organizing similar awareness activities in the future.
