CSI-PHCET successfully organized INFOVATE, an online workshop focused on Power BI, aimed at enhancing students’ understanding of data analytics and visualization techniques. The workshop was designed to cater to beginners as well as students who wished to explore business intelligence tools relevant to industry applications.
The session was conducted by Mr. Sourabh Gokave, who brought practical insights and clarity to the topic through a structured and hands-on approach. He began the workshop with an introduction to Business Intelligence (BI) and explained the growing importance of data-driven decision-making across various industries such as finance, healthcare, marketing, and technology.
Mr. Gokave introduced participants to the basics of Power BI, explaining its architecture and key components such as Power BI Desktop, datasets, reports, and dashboards. He provided a guided walkthrough of the Power BI interface, familiarizing students with its workspace, visualization panels, and data modelling features.
A significant portion of the session focused on connecting multiple data sources, including Excel files and structured datasets. Participants learned how to import data, clean and transform it, and prepare it for analysis. The speaker emphasized best practices in data preparation to ensure accuracy and consistency in reports.
Further, Mr. Gokave explained data visualization best practices, demonstrating how to select appropriate charts, graphs, and visuals to effectively communicate insights. He highlighted the importance of clarity, minimalism, and user-centric dashboard design while showcasing real-time examples.
The workshop maintained a high level of interaction, with participants actively engaging through questions and discussions. The speaker addressed common doubts related to Power BI usage, career relevance, and industry expectations. Students gained practical exposure to creating meaningful visual reports and understood how Power BI can be applied in real-world analytical scenarios.
By the end of the session, participants developed a foundational understanding of Power BI, its capabilities, and its relevance in today’s data-centric professional landscape. The INFOVATE workshop proved to be a very informative and enriching experience for students, strengthening their analytical thinking and technical skill set in data visualization. The event successfully met its objective of introducing Power BI in a clear and accessible manner.
Through this initiative, CSI-PHCET continues to demonstrate its commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and industry-relevant skills. The success of the workshop encourages the organization to conduct more such technical and skill-oriented events in the future, fostering continuous learning and professional growth among students.
