Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai HOC College of Engineering & Technology strives to foster a sense of caring and commitment as part of its education of students with the hope that they will incorporate community service in their professional and personal lives. Students individually volunteer their time to community outreach programs that respond to the needs of the sick, elderly, disabled, poor, homeless, young and school-aged. Community Service day involves students in community development and service activities and applies the experience to personal and academic development.
Mahatma Education Society organizes Community Service Day to reach out to many underprivileged people in our society to bring smile to their faces. This year the Community Service Day was held on 4th February, 2023 from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. at Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus, New Panvel. Pillai HOC College of Engineering & Technology, Rasayani actively participated in community service day. This year the college invited 70 inmates (divided into two groups Group1-35 kid’s & Group 2-35 kids) and 8 caretakers from Aroma Kids Kingdom located at Turbhe. In the morning students and staff picked up the inmates and the caretaker from the orphanage by college bus. On their arrival at Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus, they were provided with delicious lunch. Later the staff and students of the college entertained them. Drawing Competition, painting competition, musical activities, Songs and dance performances by both the students as well as faculty were organized.
Dr. J. W. Bakal, Principal, PHCET felicitated the inmates and provide the necessary stationery for them, also he had interacted with the kids and heads of Aroma kid’s kingdom. In the evening the inmates were provided snacks. In the end every inmate and accompanying caretaker was provided with gifts as a token of love.
