Event Outcome :
Students gained insights into sustainable construction practices, understood the need for transitioning to climate-responsive design approaches, and enhanced their debating, critical thinking, and collaborative discussion skills.
Description of the Event
The Student Chapter Committee of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) at Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai HOC College of Engineering & Technology, Rasayani, organized a Debate Competition on the topic “Building the Transition: Traditional Practices vs. Sustainable Innovations” on 25 September 2024.
The event aimed to foster constructive dialogue on the importance of sustainable practices within the construction and building industry. A total of 30 students participated in the debate. The competition encouraged young civil engineers to analyze the benefits and limitations of traditional construction techniques and compare them with modern sustainable innovations.
Through thoughtful arguments and interactive discussions, students explored how traditional knowledge and advanced sustainable technologies can together shape a responsible and resilient built environment.
