Seminar on “Green Chemistry”

PHCET > Humanities Seminars & Workshops > Seminar on “Green Chemistry”

For First Year students on 10th March, 2023 in Conclave – I

The objectives of the seminar were to enable the participants to understand the concept of “Green Energy”. Dr Avinash Gatade, Applied Sciences and Humanities enlightened the students to a one-hour enlightening session on “Green Energy”

Green Chemistry is an approach to designing chemical products and processes that aim to minimize or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances. It is a sustainable approach to chemistry that considers the environmental impact of chemical products and processes at every stage, from raw materials to disposal.

The principles of Green Chemistry include the use of renewable feedstocks, the design of safer chemicals and processes, the reduction or elimination of hazardous waste, and the minimization of energy use. By adopting these principles, chemists can create products and processes that are not only more sustainable but also more economically viable.

Overall, Green Chemistry is a crucial aspect of sustainable development, and its adoption by the chemical industry is essential for creating a more sustainable and equitable world.
