Guest Lecture on “Quality of Measurement of Electrical Parameters”

Guest lecture was organized by Department of Electrical Engineering on 22nd March, 2018 in the 1st floor Conclave Hall 1 at 2:30 p.m. Prof. Aamir Shaikh introduced the speaker Mr. B. Bhattacharya, Director of Systems & Training has been a quality initiator and quality practitioner for the last forty-seven years and is a known figure in specific quality arena. He is also a Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001 QMS and also a Lead Assessor for the National Accreditation Board for Test and Calibration Laboratories (NABL). The Head of the Department, Ms. Pranita Chavan felicitated the speaker.

The guest speaker gave an extensive speech on Quality measures for all the participants with the emphasis on need of quality in measurement of Electrical Parameters. The speech was centered on “Quality” in many ways for the betterment of society and electrical engineers. Quality lies in accuracy of measurement which is the closeness to true value. Comparison of accuracy and precision in measurement was made clear to students in which resolution plays a major role. Importance of reproducibility of electrical parameter in measurements was briefly discussed. Many new ideologies like Metrology and Calibration were new arena for the students. Finally safety of measurement of electrical parameters was explained elaborately. The session was concluded with a question answer session at 4:00 p.m.

Faculty members also co-ordinated to conduct the guest lecture successfully. There were around 120 participants for the seminar.
